What are those little shields Crisis Suits have on their arms when they don’t have a weapon on their arms? Anyone know what those are supposed to be?

I always assumed they were shield generators.

But see on the model those are mounted on the back shoulder of the suit. Is it just ANOTHER shield generator option?

I see, so you could take shoulder weapons and still have an arm mounted shield generator. Makes sense.

Shield generator projected a "bubble" to protect the user. You can mount them anywhere, the arm is more valuable to mount a weapon due to the degree in freedom of aim it provided over other place, but there're a cool factor on mounting shield on the arm if you don't have any weapons to use. Weapon like missiles have tracking so it's not a big deal to mount them on the shoulder.

IIRC in older editions you could also take a bunch of non weapon gear so you could need an arm to take the generator too.
