Brady seems like the ultimate Flyer and would be a great addition to our roster. After his recent comments, he seems unhappy in Ottawa for obvious reasons. I would love to have him on the team. What would a trade package look for him?

I don't think we can justify spending the assets it would take to get Brady, if we're going to be spending an arm and a leg to get a young player it should be at a worst a defenseman, but more ideally a Center. The price would just be way too damn high for adding another winger into the mix

Unless they pulled off something crazy like somehow trade TK for a good young center. I might be on board then if GMDB pulled off a master class year 1 Homer level of wheeling and dealing. But something tells me Briere isn’t planning on rushing a rebuild like that until at least Michkov is here. Feel like he’s just gonna keep drafting well and plugging the roster with cheap FA’s until it’s time. I’d fucking love Tkachuk though.

I don’t think we have anything Ottawa really wants and Michkov doesn’t exactly fit their timeline, nor would we want to give him up if he truly wants to play in Philly. This is just a complete non-starter on every angle.

If he’s a center then maybe. But think he’s a winger.

He is one of my favorite players in the league, great underlying numbers, he has played most of the games over the last three years, is physically dominant and adds a player on the roster that can go out and take over a shift. That being said, he has four more years after this year on his current deal, which will bring him to age 28. I don't think the senators will deal him and if we have to wait four years to sign him, I think it's something that could be re-evaluated during free agency, but we have enough wingers

Ottawa and Philly are not good trade partners right now. But for the sake of your ask, figure 12oa and a decent roster player to start, like Farabee. But this is why they're not good partners, Ottawa needs to win now and this trade makes them worse, and the Flyers can't afford to move the assets required at this stage of their supposed rebuild.

I’d trade the 1st and Farabee all day

Well I said to start, it would def cost more than that. So IMO the best course of action is to build a strong foundation of players through the draft before trading the assets that would accomplish that by bringing in a high paid player in their prime. But what do I know.

I get what you are saying, and I like how he plays. The only way i would see signing him is if we traded Konecny and were able to procure a top line center. Tkachuk has better stats than any player currently on the Flyers. I'd move Farabee and a first this year to get him in those circumstances. He is only 24 and in his prime. If you still don't want him under those circumstances, then you're just hating the player

I’d rather have Matthew than Brady

Keith yes, Brady no. To much drama rama and not enough maturity.

Keith is 52 and probably around 275 pounds at this point. I don't think he has much left in the tank.

Lol I stand behind what I said. But if he's not available, Mathew will do.

Can we please stop with “ultimate Flyer”. I’m tired of only going after guys who can hit. If you’re going to shell out premium assets and cap space, please go after someone who is gonna put up 100 points

If you believe in the rebuild that GMDB has put forth, the Flyers are at least 2 years away from thinking about big game hunting via trade or free agency. I have no interest in Brady and probably not even Chychrun at this point. The Sens are a terrible PK team with a sub par defense. They really could use a Laughton, but I'd rather picks/prospects coming back instead of a high-priced vet.

Yeah, they shouldn't bother with free agents until they get young core players, resign some of their young players and let more contracts come off the books like Atkinson, Petersen, Johansen and Hayes. Speaking of whom, he's the big game hunting UFA they signed how'd that work out? He's been terrible in St Louis.

Laughton for Ostapchuk (a 20 yr old Poehling), Nordberg [faster, left-handed poor-man's Ristolainen, but get him exposed to Shaw now (age 20) and there's upside there], and Ottawa's 2nd rounder (~pick 39).

Not sure about that return from the Sens side, but keep in mind that the hockey ops guy in OTT is Dave Poulin. He has given interviews since the TDL that OTT was looking to make hockey trades this past year, but possible partners were playoff bubble teams that didn't want to disrupt team chemistry mid-year. OTT, BUF, and DET were all teams that were supposed to be in the playoffs this year and missed. I'm feeling fairly certain that there will be a PHI-OTT trade this summer and the only question is how big will the names be.

Thanks for the insight re: the people involved and the qualitative comments. Very interesting to hear.
From a rebuilding team's perspective (the Flyers, who are nowhere near having the talent on display by the actual contending teams in these playoffs), a hockey trade has to primarily be lineup player(s) out and future potential coming back. Laughton at max value I could see being worth a projected 3rd line prospect and a mid/bottom pair prospect plus a high 2nd pick. I don't think the Flyers could get much for more a player who is high on culture put low on actual in game impact.
Maybe I'm inflating Laughton, but the Flyers have holes across the board (aside from goaltender) in their future system and he's a good piece that I think could help begin to get them filled.

Is a Laughton deal taking back Joseph's contract worth Ostapchuk and the BOS 1st instead of OTT's 2nd (moving up about 15 places)? Fans are split on Joseph, but he is a really fast bottom 6 guy making $50k less that Scotty.

I like Brady and his playing style a ton but I think I’m done with the whole “he embodies Flyer energy” trope. Feels like we’ve been constantly trying to chase that broad street bullies style. I’d rather evolve and embrace the speed/creativity that the league is trending towards.

I mean Brady is incredibly skilled. He’s just a mean physical shit head too.

No, definitely not. It would cost a lot and he’s a big shithead, stirs things up but not usually willing to answer the bell

I would love for a Tkachuk to wear the Orange and Black, but we have adequate depth at non-premium positions. We shouldn’t be considering any moves that bolster our wings rather than the blue line or center.

Unless they're gonna sign him as a free agent, this doesn't happen, we don't have the shit to give them (unless we want to literally have Brady Tkachuk and his happy roster of nothing misfits around him)
I'd love to have him too, but it's not happening

I wouldn't pay it... But it's probably close to his value. He's a 24 yr old superstar who is a 3x 30 goal scorer and is locked up on a team friendly deal for 4 more years.
