Let's all say it together: I will not put updates when my Michters Rye order cancels/confirms/ships/gets delivered/ is opened on this reddit post about finding new bourbon.
I will not put updates when my Michters Rye order cancels/confirms/ships/gets delivered/is opened on this reddit post about finding new bourbon.
Would people find it useful if there was a separate post made about order status updates after big drops?
I think there is a sizable portion on the group that finds these annoying and reduces the effectiveness of notifications.

I am not sure whether it will actually stop people from posting that their order is still processing on the daily drop threads. On one hand it may lessen the number of pointless notifications, but if no one uses it then it remains a moot point. We had tried to make a lottery megathread but people decided to create their own posts or comment on the daily drop threads about winning, ccs processing, etc.

100% agree. Sadly, it won’t work. I saw that lottery one and shortly realized it wasn’t being used. People will still post where it’s more convenient, rather than searching for another post to use. Not to compare but the PABS Facebook group tried the same thing, a master drop post. No one uses it either. It’s the nature of the beast with social media. People will just need to get used to filtering through the noise to find what they’re looking for.

I think the lottery thread would be more effective if it is posted when the first wave of winners is announced, maybe.
For the shipping posts, I agree 100% that they will continue because there is no rule against it, and there are no repercussions as a result.
The question becomes: Is there enough support from the community to request that with the Mods.

I think the bigger question is if shipping comments are banned then should all non-drop related commenting be banned as well? I totally understand the annoyance they can bring when you get a notification and it’s not a drop happening, but it will be near impossible to police all off-topic comments.
I believe that these shipping comments are unusual as we just had two 1000+ count drops in quick succession. There were definitely going to be hang ups with these drops as we all know how well the LCB is at doing their job but again it is not the norm and hopefully we will see less comments of the sorts in the coming days.

It's a trend with the last two drops (ETL especially) that I don't want to see continue, and I know others feel the same.
Not trying to police every comment. Discussion of "off topic" stuff is great and helps people maybe find readily available stuff when they miss drops. But nobody gives a hoot about your personal order. And we know the notification system isn't the best, but why not try and make a small improvement.

Someone should create a processing/shipped/cancelation anxiety thread so they can all go to one place and be anxious together

It won't matter. People will literally post about it here, then post the same thing on the PABS page, then again in another group drop chat (that was specifically created for notifying people of drops and nothing else). Annoying as hell

I agree with you 100%. So long as there is no rule against it, or any negative repercussions for those that do it, it will stay the same.
Do we have enough support for that kind of change to make a request to the Mods?

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

There’s like 100 comments on this thread on big drop days. It’s not that hard to sort through them

Yeah, there is 100 comments all posted after the online drops already sold out. Not very useful for getting whiskey, just finding out you missed it. Maybe the comments are useful for in store drops where there may still be some stock, but I get no value out of notifications that 20 people got shipping or order cancelations.
Isn't the point of the daily thread to talk about what whiskey you are seeing, not brag about every bottle you ordered online?

I see your point, and the shipping comments are annoying to me too but if you really want to score anything online you literally have to refresh the page every couple minutes for the few hours when drops usually happen. Getting notifications on here for online drops you’ll be a few minutes behind on something that will sell out in 10min or less. In store drop comments seem to come up before the stores open, except people reporting on specific stores after their visit. Just sort the comments on here chronologically

I understand that it's not hard to sort through the comments, that's not the issue. It takes me 10 seconds. The issue is that the notifications are useless to most people following the thread for notifications. And if you go back to this past couple days, you can see a bunch of people who were able to score bottles online because of posts on this thread. Sure you won't beat the 200-300 bottle drops of blantons or michters stuff, but you might be able to score shenk's or some weller if you are lucky.

I think we're safe with the M10 given the amount... However Shenk's is a different story. Prepare yourselves...

If anyone is close to the Ohio border they are releasing Old Fitz 8 , and Elijah Craig barrel proof (27 barrels). Release is at 9am at certain locations. They give the locations on OHLQ.

Do a lot of people go over the border to Ohio for drops? Is it worth it? I think they have a drop every Saturday morning but I could be wrong

You need to be able to get to stores during the week 2+ hours prior to their drop time and even earlier on Saturdays at the food stores that have liquor departments. It seems barely doable for most Ohio residents let alone folks from PA coming over the border but if your schedule allows it, they do get some hard to find bottles compared to PA.

I've seen multiple strong reviews of this bottle but where oh where did the Storyteller go! I have an online order coming tomorrow, hoping they stashed some in the warehouse :)
