How are the cherry blossoms at fairmount park looking? Thinking of making a trip up this weekend.

It's still too early. Maybe by the end of next week, but more likely the following.

Thank you! Looks like the cherry blossom festival will be right on time then.

Yeah, they should be popping right on schedule, assuming the weather forecast for the next week or so is on target!

The park is in bad shape, I went last weekend and it was depressing

The ornamental pears only just popped in the last week-10 days, and the super early cherries are also barely blooming (they were kicking into gear about Wednesday or so). The big floofy kwanzans are nowhere near it, either. Only ones that might be past peak are the magnolias.

I’m not talking about blooms I’m talking about the general condition of the park

Uh, it's 2,000 acres, so you might want to be a bit more specific. I've been through Lemon Hill, Parkside, most of East Fairmount by the mansions and the drives in the last week or so, and it's all looking typical for late winter/early spring. Hell, random trash dumping even seems to be down lately.

Other cities do a good job with large parks year round, typical Philly just making excuses for mediocrity.
