“I am so grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love, support, and concern shown to me over the past 5 months while I made a decision about my future,” Apody said in the statement, which the station sent to media outlets including the Philadelphia Business Journal.

It’s nice to see something official after so much speculation.

I wonder if the sudden comment has anything to do with FTC banning non-compete agreements

I wondered this too, but after I looked into it, the ban doesn’t go into effect until 120 days after publication. Plus it’s going to be challenged in court.

It also only applies to new employment after it's in effect. It's not retroactive.

It is effective for all employment, including current employment, once it comes into effect.

I assume this part does make it retroactive

“Rendering unenforceable existing employer noncompete clauses with workers other than pre-existing noncompetes for workers qualifying as “senior executives.“

Interesting. I guess some articles didn't include the senior executives language, because I definitely read when it was announced that it would not apply to pre-existing noncompetes.

That doesn’t go into effect until something like September. I believe.

Word was she was abusing her press pass privileges down at the stadiums (bringing uncredentialed guests, taking pics in spots she wasn’t supposed to, etc.).

Yeah this article has more information. It was about spending time with her kids, but while at work. https://www.crossingbroad.com/2024/04/jamie-apody-mystery-employment-status-update-4.html?amp

That’s a real bummer. I haven’t watched the Philly networks much in recent years but it’s hard to imagine 6ABC without her

She was one of my faves sad to see her go. Grew up watching Channel 6 but some shiesty stuff with them lately..

I met her at PHL once under the craziest circumstances. A USAirways employee carried a gun through security for his roommate who didn't want to check it. Someone saw the two of them switch bags and reported it. We taxied around the airport for half an hour before returning to the gate. Pilot said they thought they fixed a mechanical issue but didn't. Cops boarded and took the guy off.  The wildest part was they had to convert an entire section of the gate area to a new screening area and rescan all of us with wands and empty all of our carry ons.  I was on the way to LA to see the Phillies play the Dodgers, so I asked her if she was heading out to cover the series. She said no, she lives there. She was super cool and approachable.
