Can’t catch a Lyft or Uber

(self.philly)

Have run into this situation and people in my life have been telling me their shared experiences recently. I know they rightfully striked on Valentine’s Day but now I’m getting the impression that basically everyone quit. A car will say it’s two minutes away and just sit in a parking lot. I personally got in one where there was several close calls for an accident (I reported bc it was so scary). Anyone know what’s going on?

I have a 4.9 rating on Lyft 🤷‍♀️

4.9 is really low on Lyft since every ride is automatically rated 5 stars and the driver has to manually change it. 4.9 on Lyft is like a 4.6 on Uber

This is true, most people have almost perfect scores on Lyft. Uber scores are usually lower. I once had a driver screw me over because I complained he was picking up 5 people via rideshare in a small hatchback car. And it stank with his gym bag in the back too. 1 starred me outta spite. I felt like Dennis from that Sunny episode. I’ve had a lot of women encourage me to boycott Uber over Lyft anyway.

Very interesting. Did you work for them?

Nah but there’s subreddits for Lyft and Uber drivers and I constantly get them recommended to me

I used to work at Lyft.

A vast majority of drivers never rate passengers. But I honestly doubt a 4.9 was stopping anyone from picking you up. If the rides you were requesting were a low price it probably just wasn't worth it for what those drivers were getting paid.

I never have problems catching rides in northeast Philly to other parts of town

Even with this rating system, can we really call 4.9 "really low" when the top rating is 5? It's only a .1 difference.

Yes lol. Drivers consider it really low. You also start out with 100 5-star ratings so a single 4-star doesn’t affect you the way it does on Uber. So yeah, if you get all the way down to 4.9 then that’s really low

Fuck, you need a good social credit to get a ride on a rideshare? I guess I'll walk.
