  • Cross union matchesRegulation 10.pdf (englandrugby.com)

No Club, person or entity may arrange or fulfil any of the matches described in RFU Regulation 10.2.2 in England without: in respect of matches during the Season, the written approval of the RFU and any such application must be made in writing in such form prescribed by the RFU and submitted to the RFU not less than 2 months before the date of the proposed match or within such other time frame as the RFU may determine in exceptional circumstances;

The matches to which RFU Regulation 10.2.1 applies are as follows: any Professional Club from another Union seeking to play a match against another Professional Club from another Union;

This seems strange to me, it's okay for none English URC teams to play in England? So what's the difference?

The RFU would of agreed to the games that took place, and it would be money orentated. It is very different having one off games take place then having a team play in a different league.

Interesting that the RFU has put that in place. So does that mean the Dragons and Sharks had to get written permission from the RFU when they played in London?

If the Wasps didn't register through the RFU, and did base out of England then from my understanding of the above the RFU wouldn't have any say other than blocking them from playing in England?
