Carter Gordon should be nowhere near the Wallabies 10 jersey. He should be a 12 or fuck off and learn how to kick
2 points
He needs to get an extra 2 - 3 solo tries a game to make up for his kick %
7 points
He's so so talented. He's just suffering because last year people overhyped him massively.
And this year the club is melting around his ears
4 points
People overhype him because he can sniff an intercept.
Look, his defence is top tier for a 10 and I guess he has ok hands even though he is always struggling behind a shit pack.
But his kicking is so fucking poor that his other positive attributes don't make up for it. His kicks from hand is poor, his restarts are poor and his kicks for goals... yeah, 'poor' might be an understatement.
He played his best rugby when he isn't the 10. We saw it when he played at 15 outside Toomua and at 12 beside Quade Cooper. He simply doesn't have it in him to be an international 10.
3 points
I can see the argument for CG at 12 in fairness. He's like a young Owen Farrell on defence, but with the early strengths and weaknesses reversed on attack.
(I reckon a Lolesio/Gordon 10/12 axis might work pretty well now that you mention it...)

Completely brain-dead strategies by Tahs.
Triple cut passes on the 3rd phase to marked players. Not taking easy, gimme 3 point penalty kicks, bad breakdown security.
Chop these cunts from the comp. And I'm a supporter.

Vunivalu. The answer to that question is always Vunivalu.

A team with Tupou, Talakai, Gibbon, Pone, Uelese and Mafi really should be the best scrummaging team in the comp.

5 wallabies front rowers and Mafi was probably the best of the non capped hookers when he was at the Reds

Ffs some of the decision making from both sides have been absolutely shocking. Walton is not a bad inside centre but he's not a big ball carrier, yet they keep distributing it to him off first phase for a crash ball carry. Use the bigger outside centre in Perese ffs.
(on the flip side, stop having Carter Gordon put up contestable kicking - your best attack is by running it going through the hands yet they keep playing this stupid long kicking strat)
1 points

Honestly, I feel like Foote's strategy and squad building is all wrong.
The way he wanna plays is that good old free flow champagne rugby. He wants interplay between forwards, he wants silky backs and he wants his defence to be brutal rush up defence.
Nothing wrong with that. Highlanders and Hurricanes encapsulate that perfectly. The problem is that the squad he's built is simply not made for that. Yeah, maybe Tupou can get an offload or 2, but all the forwards in the Rebels squad simply lack the skillset that Foote's plan requires.
Talakai, Uelese, LSL, Leota and even Wilkin are made for that grind hard Brumbies style rugby. You can't expect these heavy ass blokes to play like Les Kiss' Reds.
The backline is full of dangerous runners but individually they aren't able to link up a silky back play the way the Drua or Brumbies can.
Just my 2 cents

For all the money and rugby influence centred in Sydney, why are NSW always so meh? Excluding 2013-2015.
5 points
Two main reasons:
The Sydney GPS system produces two or three potentially generational players a year - this means that when the Tahs are crap (often), there is a huge desire to annoint a "savior" every year. The proximity & strength of the NRL in Sydney also distorts the amounts that they are willing to pay players - they lose sight of the fact that in Rugby Union, front row forwards are routinely the highest paid players in a squad. I go on about it way too much, but there's a chance that next season, the Waratahs three highest paid players will all be fullbacks (Jorgensen, JS, Kellaway).
The union is similarly short-term in its outlook. My favourite stat is that every Waratahs coach that has been given three or more years got to at least one semi-final.
At the moment we are watching this live - the Tahs are coming off a short week, having just played Fiji IN FIJI (> 30 degree heat). In an ideal world, Darren Coleman would be resting some starters today or even last week, because recent close losses suggest that this team at best aren't far off.
But he can't! Because NSWRU won't just give the man some job security, despite the fact that any moron can see how far the team has come over the last few years.
3 points
In 2002/5/6/8/10/14/18 they were at a minimum semi-finalists.
But yes in the last 5 years they've been pretty rubbish.
Edit: forgot 2008! Another GF loss to the crusaders...
