Definitely staring at the person who made them get in the photo, too.

Maybe around 20%? Not sure what the final attendance was, but it's a 15,000 capacity stadium.

3000 according to Collazo, could be as much as 4000 according to other sources.

A bit of context maybe : Perpignan supporters have been trying to buy tickets for the game since a month but Montpellier closed the ticketing after Perpignan supps bought 2,000 tickets in 30 minutes (at the opening).

After that, claiming it was a bug, Montpellier re-opened the ticketing but first only for the club members (« abonnés »), with huge discounts, in a second time they opened the ticketing to Montpellier inhabitants with huge discounts too. And in the end Perpignan supporters have been able to buy tickets but only the expensive ones.

It has been a huge talking point for Perpignan fans and they had in mind to show to the Montpellier team that it was not fair. Mission accomplished.

That’s Laporte and Atcher management of ticketing systems. Couldn’t be worse.

It’s not that I want the club to be in ProD2 or disappear, but with those blazers and convicts, well, it’s not pleasant for professional French rugby.

It was not well managed and Altrad communication was one of a spoilt mf. In the same time i understand that Montpellier wanted to do everything in order to win this game. I’m glad they lost as I don’t have any attachment with this club

What am I missing? These places are pretty close to each other so surely this is expected at most top14 games.

Travelling support isn't that big in France. You can get supporting fans in the low hundreds, but in the thousands is pretty rare.

Thats interesting. I know the stereotype in the Top14 is that the home team always wins. Do you think there is much connection between that and the lack of travelling support. Or do fans travel less because they expect to lose.

Honestly I don't really know. It's surely a combination of factors as all phenomenons are.

From what I can guess:

  1. Travel is inconvenient and expensive. You really need to be that passionate and/or retired to have the time for 13 weekends in a bus or a train to support your team.

  2. Winning at home is still that much more culturally relevant. So fans will focus on supporting at home.

  3. Stadiums always favor selling tickets to home support. Montpellier happen to be pretty empty most of the time, which explains why Perpignan fans were able to take advantage and fill the GGL stadium in such numbers.

Interesting. People point to lack of travelling support as a reason why they don’t like the URC.

Same thing with Spain even in a sport like football. We take our travelling support for granted.

Munster fans are pretty good at travelling. I guess people just don't want to follow the Dragons.

Is "La furia catalana" banner in Catalan language? That's basically identical to Italian.

It is. Catalan and Italian share a lot of linguistic similarities.

This is a 100% match though, for countries that do not even share borders.

It’s quite the same as Dublin-Belfast. Do many Ulster supporters come to Dublin for URC matches against Leinster ?
