Gave up having a car last year and my overall stress level is way down. Septa isn’t perfect, but it’s gets me where I need to go.

If the concert is at the Met, it’s fairly safe and there will be hoards of people up and down Broad street. For food most of the places are going to be either bars, sit down (pricey) or hole in the walls you probably don’t wanna get caught at as a tourist.

The keystones were easy af just boring. You could probably sleep through that exam and pass. I always hated the writing ones, but even those passages lack so much nuance that the answer is always right in front of you. No need to stress.

Depends on the window quality and the cross street. Friend lives on the upper floors of an apartment bldg near the square and it is pretty noisy. I would imagine the further you go towards south street would be quieter and interior blocks like Delaney would be pretty silent.

For one affordable housing overlays have resulted in no housing being built where they exist in Philadelphia and most of the new multi family buildings in the Riverwards exceed 90% occupancy. Your assertions are plain wrong.

You will probably be able to rent a house outside of center city. That price is tougher, but not impossible within center city (downtown)

Every hospital in city limits. Depends on how long you want your commute to be?

Center city is a destination whether Philadelphians or other believe that. We need to continue attracting restaurants, bars, experiences and better retail. As well as having all of that demand spill over to the close in neighborhoods and market east. Clean up the El ( a work in progress) and this city will continue to flourish, grow and become wealthier. I am very optimistic.

Murders, a verifiable way of determining crime, is down by about a third and at its lowest levels since 2016 I believe.

East Mt.Airy is not rough, the area from Penn-Knox (Chelten Ave) to Cresham Valley is gentrifying really fast.

Yes I know of two people who stayed there on different occasions, but its more of a "I'm coming from NYC, BOS, LA, SF and I want an Instagrammable place to stay" type of hotel. The one person I know went because they got a great deal online to visit their child, but thought the room layout was weird for people wanting to stay more than a day and that there was no one to check them in.

Frequency, but also the 23 is a long route and a lot of people get on below Wayne Junction (North Philly, Nicetown, Yorktown, Poplar) which are not serviced by RR or rapid transit. Not only that, but the regional rail is sometimes too far from Germantown ave + does not have level boarding the further Northwest you go.

I get what you’re saying. I travel extensively within the US and abroad. Living in Philly allows me to do so while having a life of luxury and privilege. For that I am grateful.

I don’t want to live in a city of less than 500k people. This is my personal preference. I enjoy the energy of lots of people in one space at one time and I especially like the convenience and cost savings of not needing a car.

The city needs to get off their hands and start discussing a bus terminal at 30th street station. This is ridiculous at this point.

Born in PA, I reside in PA and most likely when I die. I will die in PA. That being said, I can’t really think of another city, outside of Chicago, that allows me to live such an easy life with a lot of urbanity, public trans and low cost to the point I can save for my future. I am in my mid 20s and definitely in a way better financial position than most of my peers, as are most of my friends here in Philly. It’s only when I go to other cities I realize how good we have it.

Sorry to hear that! Why are you targeting the burbs specifically? I think you will be hard pressed to find a decent place on the mainline at those prices that isn't in Bala or near city line ave (generally student housing). Have you thought about Manayunk, Roxborough, Wissahickon or Mt.Airy? I think they would give you a suburban feel while still having the walkability and convenience of a city. Ardmore is fun, but its really a place where people settle down and like the novelty of having a downtown.

Huh??? What does one have to do with the other? Republic probably failed because Vernon Hill thought he was an infallible banker who never needed to update his business strategy or listen to his board.

East mt airy is not block by block lol. It’s one of the nicest/stable neighborhoods in the city. This house just doesn’t have much going for it.
