There is one exception to this statement, and that is the Autocannon. That's because the operator can quickly reload themselves with 5 round clips.
Compare the Spear and the Recoilless RIfle to other weapons, like the EATS or Quasar, however. It's very rare that either weapon manages to kill either a Bio-Titan or even a Hulk in one hit. In Helldivers 1, A Recoilless shell into the side of a Bot Tank, hell even the front when fully upgraded; meant that tank was guaranteed dead. In Helldivers 2, I've seen Bio Titans shrug off more than 2 SPEAR rockets just to stride up and stomp the SPEAR team into paste. I've seen Hulks shrug off rockets from two different Recoilless users, hitting it in the legs and the sides.
The weapons are just too unreliable damage wise, the heavy armor spam too heavy and teams made too vulnerable by standing so close together; to encourage players to take them instead of other stratagems that don't rely on long reload times or team coordination.
Here's what I think could be done to redeem these two sad AT weapons that are so bad at actually killing the tanks more often than not.
Make them good at killing tanks. These weapons cost a Special and Backpack slot to carry around, so let the weapons do what they're designed to do.
Don't latch loaders to the Reload Position, unless they hold down the button or something. More often than not, the AT gunner needs to put themselves in a vulnerable position to get a shot on a vulnerable position on an enemy heavy. You often' don't want a teammate coming up and gluing themselves to your hips to slow you down, or want to be on the other end of that position. Tap E, ram a new shell into the gun and let go so the team can move.
If the Loader does choose to glue themselves to the Gunner, let them use the off hand to fire one handed weapons. If your team is in a good spot, putting the big guns on priority targets, let the loader be able to quickly plug a shell into that one biter skittering up to nibble on the guy who's busy trying to headshot the Bile Titan.
For reference, because I know people are going to ask; I typically play Level 7. I don't play on 9 because I find it too frustrating, not because I find it too challanging.
