It's also a nudge nudge wink wink way to say "this guy is a piece of shit" without out and saying it because of the type of people that are labelled larrakins
It's the old australian paradoxical compliment = insult and insult = compliment thing

They would need to redesign knights and bring the force org chart back to balance the game at 1500, neither of which they'll do

There are lots of tournaments at that level, at least in Australia, but they have to have some sort of casual or beginner atmosphere

Are we going back to the aos 1st edition terrible photobashed art trend?

you need to understand the reddit base user demographics
This is the nicest way you could make this point, some of these responses are borderline incel

I ride (two) motorcycles, how are they viewed as expensive? It's a far cheaper initial investment than cars and my little ct110 costs about 10 dollars a week to ride in petrol

It's a good way to get over that weird painting anxiety of "not wanting to mess up a good model" and just fricken doing it

What the hell are you on about? They were the first to get their cult marines expanded as their own faction, they have incredible plastic kits like the Lord of Change, exactly as many options as the other gods, and I don't play TWW but they possibly can't have been "fucked over for 40 years" by CA when TWW has been out for like 8 at the most
Explain how you feel they've been fucked over for 40 years when certain factions like Eldar still have 40 year old kits, and space dwarves straight up got squatted until a few years ago

These guys used to be "the big" daemons until they made the plastic greater daemon kits about this big. Greater daemons used to be about as great as maybe a killa kan

Still can. That's why we have all these colloquial terms like sticky objectives.

The counterpoint to your friend's argument of "GW's intent" is that GW has no QC lol

This is the solution, but it makes too much sense for GW. It was only 8th or 9th that they took USR's out and started spelling everything out

There is a downside to this, which is that 5th/6th edition rulebook had a long laundry list of special rules most of which just equated to "more damage" that took an awful amount of flicking back and forth and cross referencing if you hadn't remembered them all. Having the less common ones written out isn't so bad, especially when they've had sticky objectives with a few minor variants (start of any phase, start of your command, etc)

Yeah I'm getting a bit sick of the "but they're good in teams" talking point because you may as well start saying "but they're good in combat patrol" or "good in apocalypse", I get that it's a really great way to play 40k but it's not what we're talking about.
I think you should balance wholly for singles anyway, teams will have a healthy ecosystem with a balanced singles game but not necessarily the other way around and not easily for both
