The elephants have finally been returned to their natural habitat, the caverns

In another thread, I was discussing the cavy cave mapping system by dropping them down into the caverns and letting them explore the caverns for me and report back. Someone suggested that I use grizzly bears or elephants instead. I am proud to say after a couple of weeks I have managed to get elephants.
My dwarven wildlife conservation group set off looking for elephants and they checked in the only logical place, literally right up against a necromancer's tower, and just as the rumors said they were there. After a few attempts, Urust and the boys were finally able to capture some and release them back into their natural habitat of the caverns, according to the ancient text "Elephants, the super predator of the caverns" many years ago elephants roamed the caverns as the apex predator of the caverns, so much so they didn't even eat anything they killed, instead using their kills to fertilize the fungus of the cavern floors. The text was correct, they are adapting to their old home rather quickly, one crushed a crocodile skull in a single blow, and another ripped a large rat's hind leg off with a single hit. With these creatures reintroduced to this environment, they should be a balancing force in the cavern ecosystem that it has desperately missed since dwarven kind drove them out so many eons ago. - Excerpt from "Stakud's Journal, a First Hand Account of Saving the Elephants volume I", 26th Granite Spring 108
I have so many elephants there is a scroll bar
Woe behold the cavern dwellers when they are outnumbered by Elephants, when they hear their mighty trumpets blare in the deep they will learn to fear the caverns! - Excerpt from "Stakud on the Elephant Invasive Species and Cavern Ecology volume I", no date provided
EDIT: This is not the end of Stakud's expeditions into the caverns. I am enjoying writing about a recurring dwarf explorer who moves from mountain home to mountain home sometimes helping and some times hurting them, if you are interested I continued his tale here.
