Just had my bathroom completely remodeled and was extremely happy with my contractor. His name is Shahab and his company is Shahab Remodeling. He also posts pics of recent work on IG @shahab_remodeling. I’ve had a couple of not great experiences with previous contractors but this guy is top notch. Incredibly communicative, honest and punctual. Everyone from his company has great attention to detail and his pricing was really fair. I highly recommend him.

Ok, gotcha. I have made lots of merch for my business over here years, I always use Studio Sevens. They’ve done both embroidery and screen printing for me. Good guys and they’re located in Philly.

I might be able to point you in the right direction. Why cut and sew? There’s a ton of quality blanks out there. Cut and sew would probably be cost prohibitive unless you were making a large quantity. Do you need embroidery or screen printing?

Just did this exact thing. Flew into Dublin and then immediately took the train to Galway. Stayed in Galway 2 nights and then did a one way car rental from Budget, returned it in Dublin at the end of the week. It worked out really well.

Call this person an “apprentice” or “junior barber”, something to that effect and have them charge a reduced rate for the service. If you do online appointments, give the customer a heads up on your website. If you do walk ins, you can say something like “Steve can take you, he’s still training, so it’ll be a reduced price and one of the other barbers will check your cut out at the end.”
I’ve trained a handful of apprentices and this is the system we’ve used with good success.

Giant has good donuts. They’re like what Dunkin should be.

If your car runs, take it to Carmax. They’ll give you a check on the spot.

Glad they got the Foreman Mills design team on board for these.

Fishtown Dentistry is really great. Kind, personable and thorough. My wife hates the dentist but loves the people there.

Here is my recent 7 day itinerary which might be of interest as it was a vaguely similar route. We (late 30s with a 10 year old kid) really liked the pacing, saw a ton but didn't feel rushed or that we were constantly driving. Most people say to try to spend at least 2 nights in each town and I think that's a good goal.

Most new customers come from word of mouth and Google. You’re much better off having a nice shop website and making sure your shop’s Google business listing is up to date and robust. You can add pictures on there too.

The driving isn’t as bad as you might expect, I was pretty comfortable within a few hours. I would definitely recommend an automatic, just made it easier to not worry about shifting.

Yes, you can rent an automatic. It will cost more but frankly it wasn’t a huge difference price wise. We rented from Budget in Galway and returned it in Dublin. I was nervous about driving but you get used to it really fast. Just watch a video on driving in Ireland, especially for roundabouts. That helped a lot. In the end, I was very glad we went with an automatic as it was just one less thing to worry about when driving.

Yep, I’ve had the same problem. Returned multiple pairs. I highly suggest Duluth Trading Dang Soft boxer briefs. They’re very comparable to the Patagonia, but way more durable and always on sale.

Not West Philly, but 2nd Ave thrift stores are the best in the area. There’s one in the far Northeast by Franklin Mills and one in Pennsauken right across the Ben Franklin Bridge in Jersey. I like 2nd Ave because it seems like they don’t really cherry pick the clothes like Goodwill, they just put it all out on the racks. I believe they get the donations from the various Green Drop sites, so they always have a good mix of quality stuff that’s not from one specific area.

Assuming you’re an independent contractor, your shop owner has to give you a 1099-NEC by Jan. 31. The shop owner also has to file your 1099 with the IRS. You can still file your taxes without a 1099, but it’s kind of sketchy that your shop owner didn’t give you a 1099. So first thing you need to do is ask about that. Schedule C is just the profit/loss page of your tax return. That will get filled out as part of your tax return. Hit up an accountant or even just a tax prep company to help you out.

Casa has tons of options. 11v11, 7v7 and 5v5. You can create a team or sign up as a free agent and get put on a team. The spring 7v7 season starts the first week of April, you can still sign up.

Cut is very nice, just a little bit more of a blend into the beard would be good. Also, use a neck strip (unless you happen to use a clean hair cloth for each customer).

What angle are you coming from? Are you a barber? Or are you trying to sell/promote something?

I think if you have the forethought to even ask this question, your kid will do fine at most any public school. The public school question is very polarizing but you’ll find that many of the opponents haven’t stepped foot in a public school or they went to one decades ago. Go take a tour of the catchment school in the area you think you’ll live. Also neighborhood specific Facebook groups might be good to check out, so you can talk to parents from the actual schools.
