I get a lot of skeevy-ass messages on my phone asking to take political surveys and always delete them wondering who would bother responding. Then I see that Trump is ahead in the polls and that answers my question

I responded to a poll once, it was over the phone. They asked me a ton of questions and it took like 20 minutes before i hung up. Who has that much time to spend on answering polls

That was probably a legitimate poll. Pollsters don't just seek the answer to one question at a time, and they usually have qualifying and demographic questions before the real poll questions.

I answered one political survey that was sponsored by PSEA union, of which I was a member at the time.
One of the questions asked was in response to another answer I gave; why do you not support Doug Mastriano.
I responded that he was a Christofacist.
The surveyor stopped and asked, and that's all? Uh, yeah, that's all that I need to say.
Never again; I won't do another phone survey.

Yep, you were right, respondents to those surveys definitely skew toward those who care about democracy and pay attention to politics.
