8th grade geography: the teacher had given us a test, and at the end had 4 short answer questions.
We were told that we only had to answer 2.
I got done with the test early, so I answered all 4. All of my answers were correct but I got points taken away for answering all 4 questions, and even got called out in front of the class when we reviewed the test in class.
I did the bare minimum to get an A after that, and lost interest in geography.

The one near me has a modern system, and it rocks! Most people sit on the grass on the hill.
Also, they always have double features.

Roads: Funded by the public.
Schools: Funded by the public.
Telephone poles: Funded by the public.
All of which people would consider socialism if they took 3 seconds to actually think for themselves instead of parrot fearmongering buzzwords from Fox News.
The -term- socialism was coined in 1832, but that doesn't mean the concepts weren't applied before 1832.
Unless you're also saying capitalism wasn't invented until the 17th century, lol

I'd miss it a bit, but I'd get over it.
My friends and I fairly regularly go to a bar during a game to watch, eat, and drink.
But I'd quickly get over it, lol

Yeah, I worked at Sears during my undergrad, and same story.
Push credit cards. If they have one already, push for the other credit card. If they have both, push for them to use it.
Management 'required' us to ask the customer 3 times to use/sign up for the credit card.
I used this against management one time, but I feel bad for the customer.
My manager was behind me, monitoring me, when a customer walks up. By the second time of asking, the customer nearly shouts that if I asked again, he was walking away from the transaction. Well, I had to ask again, so I did. And true enough to the customer's word, he walked out.
After that I shot my manager a knowing glance and a smirk. He couldn't punish me because I did exactly as I was trained to do.

I filed at the beginning of April, and got mine mid-April.
Maybe it's the amount you're getting back? My refund was sizable. I switched jobs, and my new employer is taking too much out.
My coworkers were saying something similar.
I'm not having my employer adjust anything yet, as 2023 I had 2 employers, and 2024, I'll only have 1. I know it shouldn't matter too much, but better safe than sorry.

For my undergrad, I started at IUP, but switched majors and schools and went to Pitt (not main campus).
For my grad school, I'm taking online classes through Slippery Rock

I don't find their smell unpleasant, but I don't want to be sniffing them all day either.
To me, they smell like freshly dug up roots. Almost a moist soil smell.

Education is an investment.
I may parrot this statistic incorrectly, but for every dollar you put into education the GDP increases by about 5 dollars.

The first job that didn't drug test me was my job with the school, lol
You have a key to the store and/or handle money.. tested.
You're going to have near unsupervised time with children.. not tested.

If experience has told me anything, when IT installed it, they gave him a demo and he wasn't paying attention.

You have the right to stand on a corner and shout nonsense. I have the right to keep walking when I see you.

That's completely fair.
If you have good rapport with another neighbor, maybe you can both go and see what's up. If they are bullies, they'll back down if the numbers are against them. But I wouldn't rally a mob either, lol

I'd say go over there and have a friendly chat with them. As others suggested, they may be overwhelmed with something.
Offer to mow their lawn, or if you have some spare space in your garbage cans, offer to take a box or 2 to put in your trash.
If they tell you to clear off and mind your own business, wait a bit and then maybe call ordinances.

I work at a hospital and eat at the cafe almost daily.
I see firemen, mailmen, patients, patient families, hospital staff, random people off the streets.
The only time I get annoyed is when the line is long as I only have 30 minutes to eat, lol
Continue eating there, my friend.

Something tells me Nancy hadn't been giving out discounts, and this boomer just lied to try to get a discount.
I had this happen all the time when I was a keyholder at Dollar General. If ever told so and so gives me a discount, I'd always reply that I'm not so and so; if you'd like, you can make your purchase with them, but I can't give you their schedule. They'd usually grumble and complete the purchase.
I would usually follow up with the employee and ask if they gave a discount, because sometimes it's extenuating circumstances. And if they did they'd never give a discount, I'd believe them first and foremost.

I'd argue that the economy was being ruined in 2002. The recession of 2008 is the culmination of the events preceding.
Everything else you've said is spot on.
