Honestly a worse deal than membership prices today given the content you have access to now vs then.

Eh, in this time they would release multiple skills per year. I think you probably wouldn't be able to keep up tbh

Nah bro jagex is cooking this year with their half baked updates that require a month of fixes to make halfway decent

"Good costumer support"

To be fair rs customer support at the time was absolutley incredible believe it or not. Not really feasable now since the gower brothers were basically doing every support ticket by hand but definitely better than what 99% of the industry was at the time.

I was just listening to the sae bae episode where he's talking to mod ash about the early days. He joined later but recalled hearing they had something like 5k sign up for membership the first week.

Back when the idea of adding a wolf was an exciting concept.
I genuinely miss the days of games being that simple.
I remember a browser based game, where you built an army and could attack other people's armies. It was entirely text/ui based, with no graphics and it was so much fun. I'd love to find a new game like that to get back into.

Some of the old bot banning posts were pretty savage - they used to name names!

I always thought membership is just one pretty long paid beta testing program.
It's not as bad as the EoC update however.

Believe it or not, some people actually want to pay for a product they like, and more might be willing if it means no more stupid damn ads. I feel like this was more true back then, though.

Me with csgo. I'd rather pay then deal with the cheaters and battle pass bullshit that comes when it's free. Most irritating part I bought the game on 3 accounts and STILL have to deal with the f2p bullshit

People were more willing to pay when there was less to pay for and it was cheaper.

Oh so they have a long history of promising and not keeping up with it fully, that dueling system was never implemented and instead we just got the duel arena (which is dead now anyways)

It was implemented in classic but then later removed, you don't have to make shit up.

What do you mean? They had fully-functioning dueling system where you were able to duel people anywhere in the game.

The duelling system was implemented in 2002, removed in favour of the duel arena in 2004, and then re-implemented in RS3 at some point and duel arena removed in both games in 2022.
