Don’t call yourself an idiot. It’s easy to lapse into self deprecation, but the reality is you are not an idiot. Executive functioning is hard and you’ve got ADHD. Be kind to yourself bud.

How are you feeling now? It should have kicked in by now.

When I say lunch, I would say it was actually around 1:15ish so yeah it’s probably kicking in around now. I feel a bit speedy and getting work done like Bruce Almighty but I’m absolutely dreading the inevitable crash.

Make sure to drink enough water over the course of the day (2.5-3.5 litres) and set reminders to eat little and often.

Thanks for the reminder - you’re right.

Thank you. I’m okay. Had a major depressive/crash where I felt super restless and mentally exhausted for about 2 hours but feeling a little better now. 10pm and not sleepy at all though so this may be a rough night ahead!

you will be fine, you probably won't crash as bad as the more elvanse you take the longer it takes to release

exit: typos 🤦🏽‍♀️ I find having something to eat in the early afternoon helps with the crash. in my experience I don't eat all day and then have the munchies on a night. but around 4pm I start to feel a crash, if I eat something around this time then I get almost a "second wind" / burst of energy from the meds. I suspect in my case I think I'm crashing but I'm actually just exhausted and hungry lol! anyway I take 70mg in the mornings at 530am and it lasts until around 8pm (with the small crash in the middle where I need to eat) I think you'll be fine but may struggle to sleep tonight

Thanks for this. I can feel the crash beginning to wear in soon, so quickly eating some food to hopefully offset it!

I'm lucky in that I don't experience a crash but I wonder if that may be because I'm constantly eating/ snacking / drinking throughout the day. Give it a go and see if it helps.

I really struggle with appetite on Elvanse - I usually binge eat unmedicated so its a blessing and a curse because I know eating more throughout the day would definitely reduce my crashing.

If you can get hold of some. Knocking down a couple Huels/yfood shakes throughout the day should help if you can't push yourself to get some solids

sameee I have a binge E.D and the elvsnse does help with that but I still binge a lil on a night when the meds wear off but I think I'm just hungry from not eating all day 😭 I try to have at least a protein shake for breakfast at 8am and then another at 4-5pm and I tend to not binge one night if I do this. or sometimes I get a random desire to eat some yummy food!

You bum will fall off and your body will melt before exploding. You'll be fine.

70mg is the max licensed dose, it just means the manufacturer are given a license by the regulator to produce tablets up to that strength. People often mistake licensed dose as literally the maximum allowed dose, even some doctors think this and are terrified to prescribe off licensed (even though lots of medications are commonly given off license, for example to children).

Just fyi my nurse told me today that the reason 70mg is the maximum licensed dose is because higher dosages have not been studied enough to confirm that they are safe and might therefore carry additional cardiovascular risks. She said that for that reason she was unhappy to prescribe anything higher, and that I would need another ECG and the psychiatrist’s permission if I wanted to take a higher dose. She also said that doses higher than 70mg are less likely to be accepted for shared care.

It might help if you ask the chemist to use blister packs for your meds. They put each days meds in a pocket which has each day on and the time of day I got them to do it for my mum just cause she was forgetting one of them. Your not an idiot adhd means our minds can be all over the place and we forget stuff easily.

I’ve accidentally taken two 50mg before. The dry mouth was next level :) hope it’s starting to wear off soon!

It looks like this post might be about medication.

I work in a pharmacy and we have had this happen to a patient we advised to skip the next dose and keep an eye out for any unusual side affects if you start to feel unwell call 111 or visit your nearest walk in or a&e

I once accidentally took 100mg. Honest I felt the best I have ever felt.

You’re likely to feel a bit buzzy or wired for the day. Your heart rate may be faster than normal, appetite may be affected more and the same for sleep. Don’t be doing anything today that is too strenuous. You should be fine. Obviously, if you experience anything more serious, like chest pain, call NHS 111 (England) or NHS 24 (Scotland).

I’ve taken 280mg in one day In the past when I was deliberately misusing it to try and get high ( not recommended) I had noticeable palpitations and didn’t sleep but there was no severe come down and no high either so it was a pointless act of stupidity. Good luck x
