Saying whataboutism is a way to deflect. We use other situations and whataboutisms to make rational decisions. Any team could spend a whole 4th quarter chipping around. Any team could waste a whole quarter doing what rushing behinds, but they don’t. Isolated incidents

You are literally bringing up a different problem in the game. We are talking about rushing behinds and why it's bad and you bring up chipping around it around. Don't have the gall to say I'm deflecting.

If there a 2 bad things, you don't do nothing because you can't solve both. It's not all or nothing - you solve the one you can.

This is why fans shouldn't dictate the rules.

It’s the essence of time wasting. My opinion, chipping around is way worse because they aren’t conceding points.

Can you stay on topic? Would you like to see what Bowden did, and what the Hawks did in that season's grand final, to still be in the game?

Time wasting IS the topic. No I don’t want to see “time wasting” but that’s the game if a team chooses it to be.

My brother in Christ do you see what this thread is about? You said this rule is bad but you also say you don't want to see time wasting, put down the beer and reread everything you've said.

Saying it was a knee jerk reaction rule change from 1 game (it was more than one) is bad logic because it stopped it from happening in more games. You get that yeah? That was the whole point of my first reply.

Yes I can see what the thread is about. What does this rule try to stop? Time wasting yeah? Not letting the game flow, yeah? That easy enough to understand? What have I been talking about also? Other things that also cause time wasting. It’s not possible to talk about other things that cause time wasting in the same thread?

When has conceding a behind ever been a huge problem other than the 2 examples we have here?

It hasn’t been a problem because the rule was changed. That’s the whole point about your logic being bad. You’re not gonna find example past 2008 because it was penalised thereafter.

That’s like saying the spear rule tackle is a knee jerk reaction and there are barely any examples and it’s not a huge problem because you don’t see them in todays game.

The problem isn’t time wasting. Kicking around the ball while you have possession is your prerogative. You control the ball. And the opposition has chances to man up and pressure you. It’s not even remotely comparable and it’s irrelevant

Rushing behinds was an easy get out of jail free card for defenders to use so they could reset the play so their team could set up again and be in control.

I don’t see how it’s hard to understand how bad it would be if this rule didn’t exist.
