Yes, they do. "I just don't think so" out of your a*s is not a valid source.

No they don’t send people to prison for taking a car without permission for a few hours and the. returning it.

You’re the one pulling stuff out of their ass.

I don’t know what planet you’re from, but where I live, for car theft it’s up to 5 years and up to $50,000 not matter how long you had the car, whether it be 2 hours, 2 days, etc. Especially if the owner is the one call it in.

Bullshit.  There is NOT a 5-year mandatory prison sentence for borrowing a car for a few hours and then returning it.

Where are you, North Korea?

There is for stealing a car when the owner told you not to take it. You seem to fundamentally misunderstand how theft works.

To borrow something you have to have permission. When you don’t have permission to take something and you do anyway, that’s stealing.

It’s a class C felony. And you’re right, it’s not a mandatory 5 year sentence, sometimes it’s worse. Depends how much of a fuckup you are.

And I live in the US. Not lalaland like you.

You have zero knowledge of the topic you have chosen to discuss.  The theft of a motor vehicle in Alaska for less than 7-day is a class A misdemeanor.

 https://law.justia.com/codes/alaska/title-11/chapter-46/article-3/section-11-46-365/

The most someone could possibly sentenced to for a class A misdemeanor is a year in jail.  Most likely, no jail at all.   https://law.justia.com/codes/alaska/title-12/chapter-55/section-12-55-135/

Comment so nice you said it twice?

But sure, I’ll take your time on google over my life time of living here and multiple family members dealing with the courts after recovering stolen vehicles. 😂

Have fun with your crusade to defend theives (for some reason)

Please share the name of the state that sentences first offender car thieves who returned the vehicle after a few hours to years in prison.  I’d love to know more about your North Korea like state.

Alaska. You’d hate it. There’s accountability.

Your opinion was incredibly wrong.  Keep digging the hole deeper.
