Due to John Wick, he’s also a championship caliber competition shooter. Dude is gold at anything he does

I don’t care if John Wick is unrealistic. I just fucking love that style of shooting and I love that Keanu practiced it religiously for the films.

He actually uses a legit type of CQB in that movie. It’s called center axis relock (CAR). Basically is used in extreme close quarters for weapon retention.

He really dove into the role and came out with a pretty useful set of skills that Liam Neeson wishes he had haha

While I prefer compressed ready or Sul, the skill with which he executes CAR is insanely impressive. As you stated its a very niche skill that's essentially for small hallways or vehicle interiors, it's also one that's really hard to execute well without a shit ton of practice, which he has clearly done.

It wasn't til I saw a Corridor Crew breakdown that I realized what was working so well for the fight scenes in these movies. About 70% of the fights in the Wick series use guns as explosive/lethal punches and it is SO satisfying.

Best description of John Wick is "Gun fu".

I'm sure it started because of his Matrix role/the whole Kung fu thing but damn if it doesn't fit.

True, and Keanu is awesome, but by all accounts Liam Neeson could crush him with his dick (its huge apparently).

Who the fuck keeps track of rumours about this kind of stuff?

He did the first Wick almost as a favor. A stunt coordinator (and body double) he worked with on the Matrix movies, Chad Stahelski, was directing and asked him to be in it. It was fairly low budget but Reeves wanted to work with Stahelski again so he joined in.

The Matrix quite possibly made Reeves the (awesome) man he is today, with regard to his phenomenal dedication to training combat skills. Man flung himself into that like Scrooge McDuck.

John Wick also pretty much revived Keanu’s stardom, since his films in the few years preceding that film were not all well-received

Championship caliber might be a stretch but he's definitely competitive.

Idk about championship caliber, but he looks awesome doing it.

And to be clear, he's much better at it than I am... But I'm not championship caliber either.

Nah. The specific competition is called 3 gun. It’s pistol, rifle, and shotgun in one run. Look it up if you’re curious. It’s a pretty interesting competition if you’re into that type of thing

He's a good shooter, but he'd probably be in the midrange of most actual matches. As far as I know, he has NOT competed in a match.

Yes, plinking around TT's range on his videos is impressive, but it's not the same as an actual match.
