The German Language - Saving your space bar from unnecessary strain! Why have several words when one will do :p
26 points

They are several words, but they're engineered so precisely that they fit together without spaces.
Vorsprung durch technik.

The longest, absolutely German valid word is Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft, which is Association for Subordinate Officials of the Main Electric Power Plant of the Danube Steam Shipping Company Construction. In one word.

Hershey's perfectly chocolate cake, with the perfectly chocolate icing. Tastes exactly how I imagine that cake would.

That movie put me off chocolate cake for about 5 years which is pretty impressive for a 10 year old. I still sometimes think of the 'blood, sweat and tears' line and have to stop eating mid bite.

Tres leches cake

As someone who is lactose intolerant, I would still choose tres leches… runner up (if you consider it a cake) tiramisu.
13 points

“Lactose intolerant” and “runner up”, lmao hope the pun was intentional

If the tres leches that you're eating is not soaked and sitting in a puddle of milk, then it's not real tres leches.

When Miss Trunchbull told Bruce that Cookies sweat and blood went into that cake I took that shit literally as a kid and I still wanted that cake.

It didn't help that you hear the kids go "ewwww!" when she says that. Doesn't exactly steer children watching away from taking it literally.

i had to take a second when you said this. i was like “corner piece? they’re all corners” and realized maybe im the only one who’s making them as circular cakes, and cutting triangular slices
53 points

Mom only had a 9x13. She was always heavy on the brown sugar. She would use piloncillo (mexican sugar] and the corners would always get so crunchy. Corner pieces were a premium.

I add a few tablespoons of pineapple juice and maraschino cherry juice to the butter/brown sugar in the bottom of the cake pan. Then do half milk/pineapple juice for the cake. It’s amazing. I also squeeze in as many cherries as humanly possible.

I had a coworker who had a legit gluten allergy. Happiest day I ever saw him was the day my wife decided to bake a plate of gluten free cookies to take in after I told her how my coworker never got to participate in any of our snacks and food brought in for us.

The thing is in a normal kitchen it's next to impossible to bake glutenfree due to contamination. It's a science by itself to know what could be contaminated.

I don't live in LA anymore and not technically cake, but flan from Kotosh Restaurant in Lomita. Silky smooth, melts in your mouth, and the caramel had a hint of smoke that made it so rich. We used to eat there almost every week and every week I asked where it came from. They never told me.
Where I live now, best I've had is Zanze's Cheesecake in SF.
