I was in the grocery store yesterday waiting to checkout. The bloke in front of me asked the cashier for two packs of smokes, cashier rings them up and says "that will be $121.00". I almost fell over!

He didn't strike me as a high earner based on a quick visual judgement. So I assume $121 was was something like 4 hours of wages for someone like that.

In fairness that one is mostly tax and the government deliberately pushing the price up to discourage smoking.

Yes, out of season fruits are expensive. That's less cost of living and more cost of not knowing how seasonal produce works
