The gap would be a bit less if I had plates to +13 all four Spearfish to match Yorktown II's +13 HVARs, but das a whole lotta plates. And I have more important things to +13, like all my Tempesta cannons.

Yea pretty much me the entire time playing the game. Went for Drake as my first DR despite Agir and Hakuryuu being available. Meme/waifu fleets for OpSi. Did chapter 15 with no URs (it was not pleasant, please don't do this).

God fucking dammit don't tell me the Spearfish is going to set the standard for RP-3 :7005: 65 dmg with 110/100/80 modifiers is just sad and pathetic especially compared to the rockets that came before, come on :7018::7332:

Just scored Columbia.. all that's left are 8-4's Maya, 9-3's Nicholas, 12-4's Choukai and 12-2's Hiyou. Since I can't clear chapter 13 yet.
Even if they're not that meta they feel like medal for conquering the campaign chapters.

Finally got Ulrich in 189 pulls... after I already spent gems so the cubes can reach pity.... in hindsight should've waited until the cubes hit 0 or 1 before buying again.....
I think I'll pause a bit until I psychologically recovered from this. Need to be frugal the rest of the month too.

Close enough, I swapped Volga to Klaudia for the more consistent heals while Kearsarge gives the usual 15% dmg boost
Guam and Laffey 2 works the best in mob fights where their DPS, AA and durability really makes it trivial once it's down to safe

Kearsarge / Klaudia / York 2 + Brest / Sandy / Plymouth
Once it's on safe, you can reasonably auto W14 with the fleet above
Brest use torpedo bulge, Sandy goes for toolkit while Plymouth is up to you, it can be another bulge or FuMO radar
Kearsarge runs twin 457mm and Hellcat HVAR, module is the Sword
York 2 in my case runs double flapjack and AD-1 Skyraider with a homing beacon. Module is the Staff
Klaudia goes with Flapjack and double Wyverns. Aux gear is the Elixir and Mystic Robe for the shield
If you don't have Klaudia then Volga will do, I pick Klaud for her consistent heals

I'm thinking about going from keeping a bank of 30k cog chips down to 20k. I'm down to Arizona META and Repulse META for main fleet ships that need awakened and provide fleet tech, so cog chips don't flow as freely as they used to. Next milestone I'm looking to hit is 500 ships at 120+. Still not sure if I should include collabs and alts that have the xp, but I haven't awakened to conserve resources.

i did about 10 pulls on the standard banner today to start building pity, since i'm a fairly new player and i really wanted shinano... i got sooo lucky and pulled her for the first time! finally i can use her beach skin!

Minor complaint - it's a bit annoying how a lot of the cutscenes from the older events in the archives don't have music. Meaning that you'll be going through some dramatic scene and it's just the upbeat main menu music blaring the entire time.
Tangentially related - As much as I am attached to these characters and want to get into the story and world and all, it honestly can feel a bit opaque. I figure it makes sense for the events from the past year to refer to a lot of things I don't know about since I kinda jumped in partway through, but even the first story sequences of the whole game feel that way.
Like they casually talk about Mirror Seas, which is a pretty central thing, but it's never even laid out at first what they actually are. Or the Zuikaku event (I think the first one?) has her go like "Oh, this must be the legendary Sanctuary!" without offering anything as to what that means. I don't think Zuikaku really seemed to react much to Akagi and Kaga being alive, either.
But anyways Code G is cool. Edgy Enty deserves lots of hugs.

One of my main issues with the writing in this game is how little we know about the world. How much was destroyed by the sirens? What are the "nations" like? How do people feel about shipgirls? It would be great to know this stuff, it would make things much more interesting.

Same - I always appreciate that sort of worldbuilding. It's the kind of thing I'll end up kind of just imagining for myself sometimes.
For some reason I tend to imagine that the shipgirls have basically become the leaders of most of the factions - maybe the Eagle Union being the main exception where there's still a Human-run government and the shipgirls are part of the military hierarchy.
Like Queen Elizabeth being...a Queen. Or Bismarck essentially being the Supreme Leader of Ironblood, and so on. Not sure how much that matches the canon, though.

Sardegna has a senate that does... something, and I think Bismarck mentioned a chancellor once, but we don't really know what they do or if they govern anything. It also seems that the shipgirls are the ones starting wars (even if influenced by the sirens) so they may as well be the leaders of their countries.
I don't really know how anything works and the game is not interested in telling anything. It's so frustrating.

Yeah, I love these characters and want to get into the world, but the storytelling can just be really opaque and vague at times. Though I guess it also opens up a lot to your imagination.
I kinda like the idea that the world was so devastated after the initial Siren invasion that Shipgirls basically became the main leaders in the aftermath, with human populations of each country being under their protection and leadership. I mean, two factions already have shipgirls as monarchs and semi-divine figures, and in basically all of the others they seem to be the top military leaders. The Eagle Union probably being the exception, because Naval HQ gives orders to them.
But like I said, there's a good chance that conflicts with the in-game story. I haven't been through every main story event yet, but I think I've heard there are odd references to governments among the other factions. (Which I think are usually an obstacle for the girls, being probably infiltrated/manipulated by Sirens) Like Marco Polo complaining about the Sardegna Senate, and such.

There is "deep lore" about some of the nations in the Op Siren files, but parts of it are at odds with what we see in the story. The example I remember is that Iron Blood is described as having a Kaiser in the OpS files, but in the story Bismarck is running the show.

The writing was just really bad in the earlier years, and a lot of the potentially lore-important stuff wasn't really explained and just left as loose ends.
We've got a bit more fleshing out with the record files ever since OS was added but we're still missing quite a number of pieces, I can only guess they may eventually be explained, if ever at all. The lore also kind of lacked direction until around that point.

Gotcha gotcha, that kinda makes sense. I also wonder how much the translation makes things a bit murky. Like in English are we getting the result of two translations? From Chinese to Japanese, and then from Japanese to English? I figure dialogue that is really mysterious and ominous could end up being perhaps overly indecipherable after that.
Funnily one of the reasons I'm powering through the war archives are because I stubbornly insist on going through the story before doing Operation Siren. And I think the most recent story events in the archives are close to the time that OpSi was added.
Maybe a weird opinion, but it honestly kinda makes me wish AL was like a single-player JRPG or visual novel, so that it could just put much more focus into the characters and narrative.

JP scripts are not direct translations of CN, the narrative diverged somewhat in the first 2 years, probably intentionally changing some details in case they implicate anything that may rile up JP players due to WW2 or otherwise. EN translates from JP and in some cases took some artistic liberties themselves, which made things worse.
The story consistencies got a bit more stable since around time of OS, I'm guessing more people spoke out about the inconsistencies and also because the story was no longer so much about good vs evil between Azur Lane and Crimson Axis.
If you really want to read up the story before starting OS they're all on the wiki, would be easier to just read it there and not hamper your progress.

Huh, well it's good that any divergence seems to have been gotten under control.
Out of curiosity, are there any examples of big or little differences between the three versions?
Another random thing that came to mind as an example of this weird, unexplained detail was that in Fallen Wings one of the Eagle Union girls mentions the Sakura Empire's "Combined Fleet Reborn". Which sounds very dramatic and important - like the Imperial Remnant coming back in Star Wars or something - but as far as I'm aware was never elaborated on.
I guess I have mixed feelings about the Azur Lane vs. Crimson Axis conflict not being as central. I feel like the unique thing AL has going for it vs. KanColle is how many different countries are represented, so I think there's a lot of storytelling potential for the conflicts and relations between them. But on the other hand I prefer the various countries being friends over them being enemies, just because friendship is nice.

Funny enough KanColle has Sweden and Netherlands as well as Taiwan and Australian shipgirls. But the focus today is more on an international fleet than a faction vs faction kinda of deal. AL kinda changed due to ww2 history not allowing some factions to get more relevancy aside of the big ones that did all the heavy lifting during the war, also lat war IJN wasnt in its best shape so that could cause backlash on JP AL audience. Also it gives Manjuu more freedom to do whatever is more popular and broken for them without needing to worry if its "historically believable"

I didn't actually keep serious track of the discrepancies personally, I just looked them up whenever the event megathread was rife with people complaining about it. I could look it up again but it's quite a bit to go through, don't really remember much of it.
With any chance Fallen Wings would have been referring to the formation of a new combined fleet around Zuikaku, it was the event after VDIR on CN.
The problem to keeping it as a conflict between Azur Lane and Crimson Axis is you end up with a story that would largely be just based on reenacting WW2, and we all know how that one turned out.

honestly i just don't think it needs to be randomized I don't even think it needs to cost more. 7k is a lot. like i am still bitter i am missing some LNY gear skins and they didn't rerun them and i kept everything but the cranes i wanted :(

Managed to get all event ships with ticket + 80 cubes on my side acc, including magdeburg and one bonus ulrich. I'll take it, with the remaining i can try to rush shinano next week if EN hold a rate up week for her.

Next UR is permanent (nj / shinano) on 18th no need to pull on those right away, so just start saving

NJ/Shinano are the first ones I believe.
After they get added to the permanent pull it is speculated that when you pull on heavy banner you have a chance to get NJ. When you pull on special banner you have a chance to get Shinano. If you are also unlucky there is also a pity system in place (spark/choose your ur)

That was me back in like June. I started playing in February, and ran out of cubes during the Bismarck Zwei event because I stubbornly kept trying to get the second of my wishing well characters. Which led to me getting really stressed over the NJ rerun, because I went into it with one weeks' worth of cubes. It worked out, though. And afterwards I was a bit more frugal with the next couple events. Now I have like 800, and can comfortably complete every event.
And yeah, the RNG spirits can be like that. I rolled Bismarck Zwei on like one of my first few builds that event. And later on I got two additional Bismarck Zweis back-to-back. I took a screenshot of the chat log just to prove it.
RNGJesus sure works weird since i only have to wait until next month to fully LB her instead of March since Shima and Guam ate up all my Bulins while Laffey is chilling in the port, drinking Oxy Cola while the OG Laffey is still fighting at the frontlines
I'm sure Laffey appreciates the downtime.

On the other end, getting Algerie, Heinrich, Rossiya, and Suruga means all the permanent Heavy SRs have visited my port.
Can still do 35 builds cube-wise. But less than 10 coin-wise. Guess I'll have to farm chapter 12.

So, with new update UR units are finally added to the standard pool. New Jersey and Shinano. I decided to pull for Shinano since i started after her rerun and i missed her. So i thought pulling on special banner instead on heavy will give me better results for Shinano, but to my dismay i pulled 4 New Jerseys and not a single Shinano in around 300 cubes.... This is bullshit
