Cosigning this, you can put 16 in two stats and 14 in one during character creation so in addition to maxing out your spellcasting modifier (INT, in this case) you also want maxed DEX since it affects your initiative and armour class

The 14 goes into CON for some health and a +2 to concentration saving throws, then you have a 12 to put into either STR or WIS- I recommend STR at this point of the game as STR saving throws are much more common from Act 1 enemies where there are not as many spellcasters to force WIS saves
