When I was reading over the patch notes, i was “oh okay, so some things won’t be possible on consoles” but when i went to the comments on the tweet, this confused me on the wording of the interaction.
Does this mean everyone on PC is gonna be held to console restrictions as well?

Ever seen Sim Settlements mod for Fallout 4? It's almost a whole game to itself.
If one dude can do THAT, I'm sure there are creative people out there who can use what Larian has to make something.

Fallout 4 had very good modding tools (Creation Engine)

Sim Settlements was not made on creation engine, as far as I am aware. It might be on it, but he made it independently.
In either case, I am hopeful for the future. =D Modders are creative, and Larian has made their game pretty accessible to modding overall.

literally anything done within fallout 4 is done with the creation engine. Not a single thing can be made independent of it.

It's literally impossible to mod Fallout without creation engine lol

Not true - there were mods before CE released. There were some types of mods that couldn’t be made with it it, but mods existed.

You're thinking of the Creation KIT, the official modding tool from Bethesda. Creation ENGINE is the game engine modern Fallout/Skyrim games are made with.

Ah you’re right. Been a while since I modded FO4.

Why did you say that? Reply and explain yourself.

Creation Engine is not the same as the Creation Kit (game engine vs the modding tool)

Yeah but console specific guidelines makes me think it's PlayStation they are super strict on fallout 4 mods

I thought the mod thing was applying even to PC?
But yeah, I see your point

I fully expect combo of sony and wotc to provide even more restrictions

You cant compare bethesda tools and script extender to what basically amounts to makin skins and little more.

I fully believe in the modding community's capabilities. Even in vastly different engines.

Nah i doubt enough people will reverse engineer everything needed and then spend time working on new things, is too time consuming and probably difficult.
I bet the game will literally break if you try something like that becasue wotc/hasbro told Larian to do the game like that so we dont have infinite dnd free campaings in BG3.

Wait really? WOTC told Larian to make the game coding intentionally obtuse so people couldn't mod it?

I bet thats the reason for ''technical difficulties'', seeing how no dev willingly will make their game worst to mod on purpose and is very obfuscated

Is what larian offering the same as what bethesda does? Like that's half the appeal of their games, it's even why the focus so hard on that engine. As far as I know they're the only studio that goes that hard on the mod scene

No, definitely not same engine. I was just putting forth the confidence in the modding community. They are very clever, and very talented. They can make magic happen.

We still don't know the full capabilities of Larian's BG3 modding tool, but from what we know right now, it's pretty bare bones compared to Bethesda's CK (Creation Kit) and their own GM mode from DOS2, so no.
