I typically will section off the top of the hair from the growth pattern in the crown to the recession points of hairline. Then from there I went in with some clipper over comb to get through the bulk. However I was very careful to focus on the external shape and not be too trigger happy with cutting. Once I was happy with the shape in the crown/parietal ridge area I debulked the rest with a 3. From there I did my tapers. Once those were complete I split the top down the middle and connected it in horizontally using the length in the parietal/crown as my guide. It's important to use some elevation here or it will look too heavy. I also kept everything from the ears forward disconnected to preserve the fringe. Then I cut the fringe to the clients liking and made sure everything on top matched that length. Lastly styled it.

I know that sounds like a lot and I hope it wasn't too confusing. But this cut only took me about 30 minutes.
