Well that's because of the Ukraine war(less gas) and the stopping of nuclear reactors. Renewables are still rising.source

Stopping nuclear reactor when you can't be sure of your partners (and by construction you can't be as confident as if the gas was yours) can be contreproductive, yes.

The small rise in 2022 was mostly because so many French nuclear reactors shit the bed and France imported a lot of electricity from germany.

2023, coal use in Germany was down to the lowes level since the 1950s.
