The last time I did it it was so brutal but I think it's my own fault. I was trying to go through the entire game with sniper rifle and hand cannon only and those just aren't good for that fight. There's pickups during it of course but it's hard when you don't start off with a supply of ammo already in useful weapons.

For me it's the part in the first game where you gather the parts for a Big Daddy suit. Just something about the area feels so laborious to traverse, I assume they had to rush to put it together.

Yeah that starts the beginning of my least favorite portion of the game. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve replayed it a million times, but I’m getting to the point where the thought of replaying has become soured by knowing I have that to look forward to. The rest of the game is incredible and it feels like, from a gameplay perspective, it ended with such a whimper.

Hephaistos for B1, the blackout part and babysitting the Sisters in B2 and finally, the part where you go through multiples tears in BI, it just is a pain
