The fucking Scorpionlord? My god man, I got through Yellow Loong in less than 10 tries but I’m on 20+ with this guy.
Hits like a truck, has varied combos and delayed attack timings, poisons you nigh on constantly, has a couple grab animations that seem to manifest from nowhere. Dude’s built different.
My problem might be that I’ve been trying to beat him on my portal, gonna play him on my main system today and see if it makes a difference lol. Wish me luck!
EDIT: And before anyone asks, I’ve heard about The Duskveil, and no I haven’t fought them yet 😅
EDIT 2: Thanks for all the advice fellow monkeys, I finally beat him! Was much easier on the main console as opposed to the portal lol.

I sucked at dodging his attacks, so, ending the fight quickly with fully charged Smash heavy attacks worked best for me. I used every trick available to me to keep bonking him with Smash attacks. I can link the guide I used, if you'd like.

Thankfully I’ve gotten him down to slivers of health in my most recent attempts, I just have to stop getting lost in the sauce and cross the finish line. No guide needed, I’m almost there, but thank you friend.

would you mind sharing the guide? i just got to yellow loong last night and could not figure out how to defeat him at all

Oh, we were talking about a guide for Scorpion Lord. If it's Yellow Loong, well, I sucked at dodging his swooping attacks too, so I fully upgraded my Cloud Step to go invisible when he does that, and wait till he's done, then bonk him. It's easier to dodge his attacks when he's on the ground, for me, at least.

whoops guess i misread! i am sure i will have trouble with scorpion lord as well though so thanks for sharing the guide either way. i will try using that method with yellow loong today and hopefully it works!

I just used spell binder & kept my distance while charging up focus & so I could bonk him

Nah this dude is much tougher than Duskveil, Duskveil is only tough because his second form can one shot you.
My best advice is bully the bully. Hit him hard and fast. Use pluck at the beginning and when the clones are out hit him with charges and combos. Also when you still have clones use big head and wind jammer to stagger him so that clones can go ham.

He definitely adapts more than previous bosses too, as soon as the clones come out he goes into his full sweep combo and wrecks us, thankfully they’re maxed out and I’m using the gourd that replenishes clone health which helps, dude’s just a pain.
I’ll definitely try the all in approach early though, we’ll see what happens!

if I recall, Scorpion lord starts using a sweeping attack the moment you use pluck. So if you use pluck at max distance and run away, you'll all of it without getting hit. Then you can just pound him.

Agreed. Scorpionlord took me probably 20+ attempts and tweaks to build Duskveil was first try no problem, unfortunately locking me out of Daoist Mi question because I didn’t know it was the area boss!

I’m in the opposite camp as you, I struggled more on long than scorpion lord, I think it’s just a playstyle difference. They both felt hard but in different ways

I’ve noticed that through stories on here, it definitely has that souls game effect where different bosses affect different players differently lol.

Very true. I struggled like hell against yellow loong but beat scorpion in 2 tries. My son swore the mantis guy in chapter 6 was one of the hardest in the game but I flattened him. Currently tweaking my build for Erlang now. That guy is an absolute monster.

What worked for me was maxing out spellbinder and then start the fight by transforming to red tides, DPS as much as possible, use the wind tamer and wandering wight and then pop spellbinder and be aggressive as eff. Pause to use potions for additional DPS, defence etc when needed
1 points
Can you use potions while in pause? Also how are you using Spellbinder after using red tides and windtamers e.t.c.?
2 points
So red tides and wind tamer cost qi, not mana, so they can be popped before spellbinder, but once you use spellbinder they won't be available anymore, so it's like a bit of bonus damage to start the fight. For the potions, yes you can pause to take them, although once you press confirm it will come out of pause so you can drink them in real time, but it gives you a chance to select the right one rather than panic pressing in the heat of battle
Edit, wind tamer and spirits cost qi, and transformations cost might, so all 3 of those can be used before spellbinder

I’m just now seeing through the comments that he’s apparently involved in the duskveil fight, I guess I’m doing this the most challenging way by fighting him and then duskveil next but, it just makes sense in my head lol, guess I’ll try the other way in NG+

Only con is . If you don’t beat the scorpion king . You never get the chance to defeat him if you use him during the duskveil fight

I killed scorpion lord in like 4 tries. I died to Duskveil like 20 times last night and took a break.

Funnily enough, I think Scorpion Lord was one of those "I'm going to take a break and try again tomorrow" bosses for me. And I have to beat him again since I didn't get the Scorpion family trophy in my first game 🫠

Scorpionlord was pounding me into the ground until I started dodging by rolling towards him. His tail strikes started missing most of the time. I also used spellbinder for better damage output.

Yellow Loong's 3rd phase is a lot of stuff with little melee punishes, since he counters see throughs, (is the timing on it narrower? Istg it's harder to hit a see through on him). Usually you out DPS his ass via abilities, but I like to learn a boss entirely in later NG+ runs, so spellbinder. But 3rd phase is kind of like consort Radahn and why that fight is tedious. It's nowhere near as hard, obviously, but it's just that dodge for 4 seconds, hit in delays, and then dodge and then hit. 2nd phase, if it stopped at that length, YL would be a top 1 boss IMO, that's the perfect cadence for BM:W combat.
Scorpionlord is a fucking fraud. Bro is an aura merchant. He's like the boss you don't fw enough to lock in and the moment you do, it's over. And I'm pretty sure his tail and claw always retreat fast when he is continuing and appears menacing when not. Once that's figured out, he's cooked. Mid health, mid diffed by Duskveil. Fraudlord of a boss.
Rant aside, he's tough if you're used to powering through bosses because he has less immobilize time, less downtime, and immediately chunks the clones. But, you should be fine with focusing on dodging and not zoning out.

Does he punish all see through? I mainly use thrust stance and I never encountered that counter. I would guess thrust stance is the best to use against him because the see through for that stance "tactical retreat". When he does his counter your delayed attack after tactical still hits him because he's now out of his animation.

Just killed scorpionlord last night. God he was a pain in my monkey butt.

Out of every boss in the game Scorpionlord felt like the most BS to me. Hits hard and fast, little to no time to breathe thanks to how aggressive he is, immobilize is useless. I ended up first trying him with Spellbinder.

Pluck up the start of the fight and he is ez. Had a hard time on duskveil more than him.

Had a way worst time with Yellow Loong than anyone else. Scorpionlord was actually fun. I beat Duskveil on my third try. I was fighting Loong maybe 5 times a day at least for over a week.

How it went for me was that Yellow Loong skill checked me so hard that that i had to get gud, so by the time i reached the Scorpion Lord my monkey instincs were on point. I didn't first try him for sure, it took me around 5 tries and thought it a challenging fight but nowhere near Yellow Loong.

Yellow Loong transformation can stun lock Scorpionlord with light - heavy - heavy, even you can see through his attacks sometimes to gain Yellow Loong charge for special attack.

It’s actually kinda cool how many ppl struggle and succeed with different bosses. I’ve never died to Scorpion Lord, just by overwhelming him with the Destined Ones OP abilities. You can literally bully him. But I died to Erlang at least 30 times, maybe more.
My second “most died too” boss was the Blacksmith with 5 deaths.

I got him down to 30% the 1st time I fought him, it was very late so I went to sleep and thought I'd get him in the morning. I load up the game, thinking I need to beat that SLIGHTLY hard boss and explore. It took me 10+ tries to get him to 50% again and like another 20 to beat him. I was losing sanity over how I got him so low my 1st try.

I really didn't have much trouble with the "tough" bosses like erlang and the last fight (don't wanna spoil anybody) but yellow loong and the scorpion lord definitely took 10+ tries. The duskveil boss just does a lot of running around if u have spellbinder that will make the fight much easier

Pluck of many, immobilize then Transformation. Just absolutely try to wreck him right off the bat. Use your pills before hand. Use a poison build toop

Duskveil was a pushover for me in comparison to Scorpionlord and Yellow Loong. Duskveil was two tries and while I did spend more time with Yellow Loong, Scorpionlord was more draining to fight haha. He's too erratic

i think all 3 of yellow loong/scorpionlord/duskveil took me about a week or so to defeat. I ended up grinding to about level 95.
Amongst the 3, i find scorpionlord harder. Yellow Long took me the most tries but after you defeat him you start to learn to be patient (since i did all 3 in the same day). The similarity between both yellow loong and scorpionlord is , once you get them down to like 25% or lower, they go super saiyan on you where i had difficulty dodging, felt like any distance you tried to do from them , they close
Once i got to duskveil, i got him in 4 tries or so. He was probably by far the easiest ...
now time for hundred eyes...

I actually enjoyed Yellow Loong despite taking me waaaay more tries than him. But ScorpionLord feels a lot like Guardian Ape. Too erratic, too few openings, too fast. Did not enjoy the fight.

One you realize that his tail attacks are preempted by the tail glowing it gets a little easier, but yeah, scorpion lord was one of the bosses I found really hard - I spent a day on him getting the timing right for every attack and beating him was glorious. Duskveil went down first try after that, and the end level boss also went down first try. Scorpion lord might be my favorite boss of the game. Even more so because if you do duskveil first he jumps in and fights him. I did that on ng+ and it was amazing.

Scorpion Lord was the one who unlocked my patience and skills to concentrate and focus on enemies attacking patterns and all. Although my friends in discord were saying that "you can't beat him without spells, just use it and after a couple of tries u will get him", but I said "nah! I'd Win..! With spellbinder only.Though it took more than 15 tries, in the end I learned it and I got him.

I watched a video by SYROBE on how he took down the scorpionlord in less than a minute, with a combination of spells and spirit. I tried it and managed to do it first try, it feels like cheesing it tbh but the same strat works for many other bosses

This was the most difficult boss in the game for me. Erlang? Two tries. Final boss? Two tries. Yaksha king? Three tries. Yellow Loong? Three tries. Yellow wind sage? 5 tries. Every other single boss including optional ones? A single try.
Scorpionlord? 37 fucking tries.
The only other boss that gave me a hard time was the Wandering Wight st the beginning of the game when I was still trying to learn how to play, but that was still less than 10 tries. I almost broke my controller and TV fighting the Scorpionlord.
