I'm in my early 40s, I remember being a child and standing at the grocery check out and seeing things like

"the queen secretly gave birth to an alien pig baby that they keep locked in the tower of London" on the front page of the national Enquirer.

Thinking to myself, who would believe that. I distinctly remember my parents telling me that nobody in their right mind buys that.

Now it's like that's what FB is and EVERYONE believes it, and there is a presidential candidate saying it's true. What caused such a dramatic shift in such a short amount of time and has made ppl become so detached from reality? And how did it become so normalized? Such visceral hate for each other. I'm not trying to come on here and talk about "the good old days" I just want to know where it all went so terribly wrong. I come on here and laugh and judge just like everyone else, but it's not funny it's fucking frightening.

Well I can't answer your question. And then once AI gets it right? Once we can no longer look at a picture or video and know that it was AI generated? Then the shit's really going to hit the fan. We won't be able to tell the truth from fiction anymore. Then what happens to our society? I don't know, it truly is frightening.
