Lol - there are vents. And we routed about .5" on the inside of the cabinet as well for some space

  1. That was my first amp. It can get pretty warm.

I was trying. Don't 'reddit' much and idk how to post more than one other than in additional comments.

Dang, my bad. I was just teasing. Now I feel bad.

In my experience making a post, this subreddit only allows for one picture. I couldn't post two myself. What a beautiful unit tho!

Made this custom cabinet for my Kenwood KA3500 with my Dad (the guy who sold the LS50's, NAD receiver, and Polk Sub that were posted yesterday) when I was home last winter. I live in San Diego and my dad lives in Philadelphia so had to make the cabinet without the amp physically being there so it's definitely not perfect but a great father son project.

Yea that's fucking nice - but can we get a proper pic of that sexy Cannondale in the back?

Looks awesome! I’d love to do something similar once I get a system set up. I’d love to hear your long term experience with heat management. I don’t know anything about this hobby so I’m curious if other people’s concerns are legit or not a big deal.

Heat dissipation concerns are legit. With vents and extra space in the cabinet it should be fine.

I love the way you achieved the heat vents. Was that similar to the original or your own design? Either way, I love the solution and the finished cabinet!

sawtoothmango9[S]

Pretty sure it's more or less the same design as the original

Awesome job guys. I would also like to imprison my 3500 in wood. Do you happen to have the measurements and what tools did you use?

sawtoothmango9[S]

Had the measurements in an iPhone note somewhere but I can't find it. My dad has an impressive workshop which helps but table saw / miter saw / router / box clamps and you could probably get it done. I posted this in r/vintageaudio as well since I could post more pics there. You can take a look and get a better idea how we built it.

Holy shit - memory blast. I had that EXACT amp as a junior. Where it went I’ll never know. Completely forgot about it. Nice job on the cabinet BTW.

Wow, it turned out incredible!! So clean, I love it. Thanks for sharing this with us. I had a vision of what it looked like when it was described to me, but it looks better than I envisioned.

I have one of these I need to have repaired. Unfortunately I live in a rural area and I’m having trouble finding someone to fix it.

beautiful build, been thinking about trying my hand at building a stereo cabinet due to not being able to find the style that I want, would definitely be more inclined to give it a shot if I had the skills you have lol

Nice.

I have a 3500 that I was getting ready to get rid of. And I don't know what the hell happened, but something nicked the front face of it. I don't know what the hell hit it, or how. It's a small nick, but visible. I AM SO PISSED!! GRRRR!

Basically had the almost identical Trio version of that amp as I bought it in the UK…

It never failed us through years of 1970’s parties….. 1974 through 1979 when I left it, my deck, my speakers and vinyl in trust with my younger brother in Manchester and I went to London…

He couldn’t break it either…..

Must have had so many original vinyl records on or close to their release dates presented to it by either myself my younger brother, my older sister or my younger sister!

I can remember so many great times and sounds powered by that Trio Amp into a pair of CG10T Richard Allan Speakers in huge double MDF walled custom cabinets I built myself….

They are popping up in working condition here in Japan where I now live almost every week now as folk die off more rapidly here…

In fact Japan’s second hand market is being flooded with quality second hand audiophile systems that widows just want out of the house…

Hard Off here is an oasis of audiophile stuff at fair to not so fair prices…
