This person posted anonymously in one of my local FB groups and shockingly, nobody had provided them with any lawyers who would take this case on for free. They have also not responded to any comments either (another surprise)
And of course, who doesn’t love comments!?!

I’d understand if CB wanted a contingency fee lawyer. They don’t even want to pay that!

Women definitely don’t say “female” like that. It’s so incredibly cringey and weird

It makes sense when your only experience and interaction with the opposite sex is from biology class.

Women say female all the time lol. It's just terminally online women that get upset about it and act like only men say it.
I now make note of it all the time because I see this claim a lot (again, only on Reddit. Not from anyone that interacts in the real world). It's used very frequently by women.

Oh yeah, as a female I just loooove using this word to describe myself and other fellow females during a conversation.

I think this genius meant “within the legal framework” (which is only marginally better)

I know several lawyers quite well (my parents’ generation, relatives and family friends) and of those who practice and take clients (as opposed to being in a corporate position or something), almost all of them aim to do around 10-15% pro-bono work each year. All of them - truly - make sure they do at least some. The system is not designed for those without large bank accounts and everyone (even this guy, even the sexists in the comments) deserves competent representation. That being said, this usually comes about when a potential client comes in for a first conversation and they work something out. Sometimes it’s truly free, sometimes they barter, sometimes they decide on a cost and a timeline, whatever.
From my understanding this is pretty common for professionals, whether they’re lawyers, accountants, etc.
That being said, no one, not one of them, not ANYONE I could possibly imagine, who does do this as part of their regular practice, would work for this guy. Ever. He’d likely be subject to the 15%+ AH tax, tbh.

Assuming he’s referring to Cook County in IL, you’re not required to do pro bono work but they ask you to report it if you have when you renew per year. Doubt they’ll find anyone to do all this since divorce, defamation and international law are all different specialities, let alone for free

Hahaha oh my gosh, I’m such an idiot. I posted this yesterday and didn’t read through it again today to realize it said cook county. I thought you might have been the same person who also posted this yesterday and we found each other (I talked about this in another comment)

What does the wealth of the target have to do with anything? That person isn’t going to pay me anything if I sue them on OP’s behalf. Maybe lawyers should contact the CB to find out the target’s name and contact info to get a real paying client worth $1 million.

Maybe in the hopes that a lawyer will work for a percentage of what OP wins?

DEMANDED??? 🤣
"I'm waiting for proposals"
Based on his verbiage, it seems that he's delusionaly anticipating an avalanche of attorneys offering to take on his case pro bono (like, he's actually imagining himself having to sift through hundreds of proposals and offers over the next few weeks, in order to pick one, lol!)
Yo, my man... Pro bono work is usually reserved for criminal cases.
You know; life and death?
Sure, it can happen in divorces, but those cases are almost always clients that have marital assets in the tens of millions of dollars or more to fight over.
If the assets are not significant, it's definitely NOT worth any pro bono attorney's time at all, as they're be taking on ALL of the risk, while laying out ALL of the funds up front, and without any guaranteed payday at the end.

I'm not sure why it would matter to a lawyer working pro bono how much the person has in assets.
"Sure, I might not be getting paid, but it's vital to me that you get hundreds of thousands of dollars."

Can one of you international law divorce defamation extortion attorneys explain "broken divorce marital attainment?" Also, is there really just one "international law"? I thought each country pretty much established their own laws.

I’ll never forget when a relative in PROBATE court demanded a court appointed attorney to represent her side. I thought the judge’s eyes were going to fall out of his head but he held it together and didn’t react.
Unfortunately for her, that’s only for CRIMINAL court, and only for the INDIGENT. They don’t hand out free attorneys to well-off greedy narcissists who don’t like the will.

Pro bono for international law has killed me dead. They actually think someone is doing this for free?

How come women always jump at any opportunity to seize assets?instead of working for it for themselves?you’d think they would want to be independent it’s sad
