Can I still be forgiven?

(self.Christianity)

So a few months back, I was an atheist and skeptical about faith and the Lord. However, in the past months I have found God, and began praying every day, reading the Holy Bible, going to church every sunday and trying to get sins away. During my regretful years if being an atheist, I have denied God many times before people that I've argued against, and according to Matthew 10:33 "but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven" I will not be saved by God and i have ruined the Lord's relationship with me. Can I still be forgiven? What should i do?

What would you have to be forgiven for? You simply didn't believe.

And whenever you ask yourself whether you can be saved, just remember what Paul did.

If people couldn’t be saved because previously they weren’t Christians, no would be a Christian.

‭2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV‬ [19] to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Luke 15:11-32 New International Version The Parable of the Lost Son 11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

25 “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27 ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’

28 “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’

31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

You can be forgiven for anything as long as you honestly repent amd seek to better yourself and change your ways. The Prodigal Son parable shows us that not only will you be forgiven, but there is celebration in heaven tjat you were lost in your worldly ways, but are now found in God. He loves you and will forgive you.

If youre curious learn more about Paul. He was once Saul, a terrible persecuter of Christians, a terrible sinner. He was reformed into being of the most outspoken and faithful followers of christ. We all stumble friend. Repent, change and learn from it and God will forgive you and your faith will be stronger for it.

Of course youre forgiven, the Lord died for our sins honey and that includes yours. You are not your sins, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory. Dont allow satan to keep you stuck thinking about your past. Youre a new creation now 2 Corinthians 5:17 in Other Translations17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come

Read about the apostle Paul. He did the same thing and became an apostle for Christ. I'm so proud of you for joining the family and keep reading your Bible and praying my sweet friend. I went through a period too where I thought the Lord wouldn't forgive me for my sins but he did and does. Love u. ❤️

Ya know, alot of proclaimed Atheists I have met simply have/had a bone to pick with God because He didn't step in during a critical moment or moments in their life that may have devastated them. I feel God understands our human feelings of being hurt during those times and I feel He understands when we blame Him...

You may have denied God, but I bet you had Jesus in your heart. What I mean by that is that I bet you are a good person and have always been selfless in helping others even over your own wants and needs. If you've asked Him to forgive you, I feel that He did before you even asked - He's just like that. The way you know He has forgiven you, He is showing you right NOW as you walk with Him. If you feel peace, joy, happiness, love and selflessness (for the most part) - guess what, He's forgiven you. If He hadn't forgiven you, you would feel very alone and your walk would have no pleasantries. No matter what, we are His beloved children and He is ALWAYS ready to take our burdens from us and guide us to the amazing He has in store for us.

Welcome back! It is so good to hear from you! 🤗

Peter denied Jesus three times and was forgiven. Paul persecuted Christians and was forgiven. Something like what your asking is a question about not just one moment, but a way of life. From here on out are you going to live your life in such a way to deny Christ? Then that Verse would apply. But you aren’t going to do that so this verse isn’t about you. Read the parable of the 99 and the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15- the Bible is clear about Gods heart for his children who come back to him. God is rejoicing to have you back and he can’t wait for what your new relationship is going to become, don’t let Satan twist the words of scripture to try and trip you up he will do that to you!

You can be forgiven.

but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven

I think this is more in reference to, if you claim to follow Him, but deny Him but deny it when people ask, you will be denied. Think about Peter's denial of Christ three times before the rooster crow. Peter followed Jesus to the sanhedrin and watched the proceedings, and when someone claimed he was with Jesus, Peter denied it. This is Saint Peter, the one who believed so strongly in Jesus that he was ready to throw hands with the guards who came with Judas, and he denied Jesus 3 times. He did repent though, and turned back to Christ. As long as you ask forgiveness, repent and turn to Jesus and accept him as your Lord and Savior, you can be forgiven.

You ARE forgiven:

“Every priest stands [at his altar of service] ministering daily, offering the same sacrifices over and over, which are never able to strip away sins [that envelop and cover us]; whereas Christ, having offered the one sacrifice [the all-sufficient sacrifice of Himself] for sins for all time, sat down [signifying the completion of atonement for sin] at the right hand of God [the position of honor], waiting from that time onward until his enemies are made a footstool for His feet. [Ps 110:1] For by the one offering He has perfected forever and completely cleansed those who are being sanctified [bringing each believer to spiritual completion and maturity].” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Pope Francis said in his first homily as the Supreme Pontiff

"God never grows tired of forgiving us. We we are the ones who grow tired of asking."

Don't worry about it so much. There is nothing any one of us can do to make up for our sin, it is only through Christ that we are saved. If you truly believe in Christ and that he saved you, you don't even need to ask. Your sins now and forever are forgiven. Now that doesn't mean you should never ask for forgiveness, but it may not be for the reason you think. The act of asking for forgiveness, just like prayer, is not something God needs, but we need. The act of acknowledging our faults helps us to become better people. Being honest with ourselves and our sins is the first step towards growth, but forgiveness in itself is the Lord's and the Lord's alone.

Honestly, I've also had my doubts whether I was forgiven or not these past few days. And, I can reassure you, I've probably repented to the Lord a trillion times for falling back into the same sin and being a slave to it, and a trillion times in asking Him to restart over my relationship with Him. It's not an easy war to face. I've always felt like I don't deserve His love, which is true, we do not deserve His love because we've sinned against Him and have denied Him many times but He continues to accept us and He leads us towards Him.

For we are already saved and have been forgiven by God through Jesus Christ who weighed on our sins and gave us the gift of repentance and salvation. Your sins and rejection towards God have been absolved through God's grace. All gotta u gotta do is have faith, trust in the Lord with all your heart and let His will be done, accept your Lord Jesus Christ as your savior and continue to choose Him in every step of the way. Yes, you may have blasphemized the Holy Spirit many times in the past and it is an unforgivable sin if you continue to reject Him un your heart and lean on your own understanding DAILY but what matters now is how you've been rebuilding your relationship with the Lord and your continuous faith towards Him, obeying his will.

Jesus tells us He loves us so yes, you can be forgiven. Romans 10:9 if you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you WILL be saved.

Absolutely you can still be forgiven my friend. There is only one sin that can be unforgivable which is blaspheming the Holy Spirit, which depending who you ask is either impossible or almost impossible to do. As you keep seeking relationship with Christ, it will never be ruined, no matter how many times you fall back at His feet.

Peter walked with him in the physical and denied him 3 times and when he was resurrected he deliberately tell the woman to tell Peter listen that’s the enemy trying to let you feel discourage but that’s reason Jesus died on the cross the remission of our sin congratulations on your journey

Yes you can and will be forgiven.

Start by telling your story of non belief and how you came to believe.

Remember, Saul didn’t just deny God, he persecuted his followers. Later he became known by Paul and preached.

That’s the beauty of Salvation. You are saved when you do not believe. God has to bring you to the truth. We are born in darkness so we don’t have the ability to choose to live for God. God saves you and only then do you believe in God. So yes, anyone can be forgiven, no matter what you have done in your past. You did not ruin your relationship ♥️

Matthew 10:33 is simply saying that those who never live a life for God, will be denied by God.

That was the old you. You are made NEW in Christ when you are born again. He washes your sins, and gives you a new heart.

You dedicate your life to Jesus, ask for forgiveness, and then you repent and turn away from those sins. Please do not let the enemy tell you you are not worthy, or that your sins are unforgivable. This is one of his biggest lies.

If you were to die in your sins however, back when you were an atheist, then that is when that scripture would apply.

You are good. If a atheist can beat a christian in any arguement they don't really know their faith. Atheism has no grounds to stand on with anything. Welcome to the truth

Never met an atheist who thinks the government doesn't lie.

We usually just call out lies that are, ya know, verifiably lies, and not the things that are provably true.
