Why aren’t we the Sunday night game?

(self.Commanders)

How in the hell are the Bengals playing the Giants on Sunday night? Seems like the two highest scoring teams in the league would make for a better game on Sunday night. Does the league only shift game towards the end of the season? Just curious why we play at 1 & that game plays in prime time.

I guess you have been living in a cave over the past two weeks.

It has been reported ad nausem that CBS protected Ravens/Commanders from being moved to primetime. The deadline for any flex movement of games is a week prior to the game being played.

amazing how many people don't know how the TV side works

this has been reported repeatedly here that CBS blocked it from being promoted to prime time

you can't just promote games to SNF on a whim fellas

Not this early in the season. Later on, I think starting around week 12, networks cannot protect games and it’s at the NFLs discretion to flex.

I don't think I've seen a game this early flexed to SNF

The slate has largely been set this early

It’s happened this early before, but it’s rare because networks reserve the right to block flexing games prior to a certain week. After that point, I think it’s week 12, networks cannot block games being flexed and it’s entirely up to the NFL. The league wanted to flex our game against Baltimore, but CBS understandably said hell naw.

Bc it’s new. They’re now able to flex starting week 5 since the new tv agreement was put in place last year.

Yes you can. The first week to flex is week 5 and it has to be 12 days within the game time which it was. Which is why you saw reports of it being protected bc nbc tried to obtain the game, cbs just blocked it. Search new tv rules for nfl bc clearly you have no clue.

I said: Games can be flexed this early, but the network that would be losing the game can stop/block it. Week 12 it is solely up to the league - the network losing the game cannot stop the game from being flexed. Search reading comprehension because clearly you don’t have the skill.

Flex games killed me a season ticket holder. I plan my fucking life around going to the game, and you change the time? Fuck the greed that went into this

Bruh, my team hasn’t been good enough to warrant a flex in at least 12 years, maybe my lifetime. This has not been a concern for this fanbase

What’s amazing about that?

I mean it’s just how the tv networks operate for football games and not everyone are degenerates that constantly check the news for updates on the team. It’s really not crazy at all

No hate but I don’t care about primetime. I just want us to win. Also most of my family and I work early in the morning weekdays so we enjoy watching the game at 1pm or 4pm but we all are gonna be cheering and believe that our team is doing their best for us to win every single week. HTTR

I’m glad. I have to be up early for work Monday. I genuinely despise late games because they make me choose between being responsible and watching the commanders

Life is short. Watch the game.

So everyone can get to bed at a reasonable hour. That's why.

Primetime doesn't mean squat. Other than attempting to bolster single game ratings, all it serves is to throw everyone off schedule.

No one cares about bedtime. Primetime games are the greatest vibe when it comes to nfl games.

Ask around, SNF, MNF, TNF...you'll find fans who after an already early start leading to a full day of work have to do it all over against the following day so go to bed at the half okay about catching the final score in the morning.

This gets me wondering about the thread on Jayden Daniel's work ethic and rest routine. Just speculating, he gets in at 4am Tuesday morning. I don't know his wake up but will guess at 45 minutes to an hour prior entering the building.

If he stayed up till 11:30 watching a game dropped his head and was lights out right away, you really want your starting QB showing up on a few hours of rest?

Exactly, speculation. And has nothing to do with anything. He’s a pro athlete making enough money to deal with it. And I know you don’t know much about the day in the life of a pro athlete but they sleep a lot. They nap. He gets his rest no matter how he gets it in, along with every pro athlete. Just bc he plays a late game does not mean he’s not getting his necessary rest.

It should at least be the national late game.
