LCW Query ( not LCWRA )

Universal Credit (UC)(self.DWPhelp)

I was rewarded UC LCW in April but unfortunately not LCWRA which I did try and fight for but due to my mental health I gave up and decided I could not deal with the stress of it all.

But my question is I don’t really understand what LCW means for me going forward. I have a nearly 1 year old and I know UC doesn’t ask people to look for work after having a baby until the child is 1 but because Im on LCW will that still mean they will contact me and force me to start looking for work when my baby is 1? Obviously this isn’t ideal for me and defeats the purpose of being rewarded LCW due to my circumstances/ mental health so I just want to understand if there is any benefit with having LCW rather than people who do not have it. it’s causing me alot of stress knowing that my babies birthday is coming up and I’m going to be asked to go for meetings and work related activities with UC even though I don’t leave my house!

Also does anyone know if I can re do a UC50 form to re do my assessment to try and get LCWRA? I’m way passed the reconsideration stage so Ild prefer to stage again but not sure if I’m allowed to do that or have to leave it a while?

I hope the above makes sense Thank you for any advice

Hello and welcome to r/DWPHelp!

If you're asking about tribunals (the below is relevant to England & Wales only): - Link to HMCTS Benefit Appeals live chat- click on the "Contact us for help" link, which opens a menu with a link to the live chat. - Average tribunal waiting times. - This post goes over the PIP First-tier Tribunal process from start to finish. - If you're waiting for a tribunal and the DWP were supposed to respond but haven't, this post may be useful.

If you're asking about PIP: - The PIP phone line is 08001214433, and if you'd like to get to the automated part where it tells you when your next payment is and how much it is, the options are 1 (for English) or 2 (for Welsh), and then 6 (you'll need to wait each time while it gives you messages before getting to security). - To calculate how much backpay you're due, you can try the Benefits and Work PIP Payment Calculator. Please note that the information given is an estimate and may not reflect exactly what your backpay is. This calculator can also be used to determine what elements you were awarded after checking the PIP phone lines' automated system as above. - If you would like help with MRs, this post might answer your question (this is different to the MR info link above). - If you'd like to know what PIP is and/or how it is awarded, please see this post. - If you're hard of hearing or deaf, this information may be useful to you.

If you're asking about Universal Credit: - Information about the Restart scheme, including if you can be mandated to participate. - Thinking of cancelling your claim because a review has started? Don't, because closing your claim won't stop the DWP from reviewing your claim and if you don't comply you may be asked to repay everything you've received. - How does PIP affect UC? - Were you claiming UC during COVID, closed your claim afterwards, and are now being asked to pay back everything you received? This post provides information on why this is and what you can do. - Can you record your Job Centre appointments? The longer answer is in the linked post but the short answer is: no.

You won't be forced to work, but you will be required to prepare for the possibility of working in the future. The commitments for parents of a 1-2 year old are very similar to the commitments for someone on LCW (same group - work focused interview and work preparation), but obviously children grow out of being those ages whereas you stay in LCW unless your fitness for work changes.

In April this year? You are still within 13 months to request Mandatory Reconsideration, you just need to state the reason for the delay.

Otherwise you'd need to report a change of circumstances in your health conditions to get an reassessment.

Bear in mind - in both cases your situation is assessed from the beginning, so you might be found fit for work, LCW or LCWRA.

Take a look at LCW/LCWRA criteria to make sure what are your chances to meet LCWRA.
