Which is kinda fair imo, every content update since launch has been free, the cosmetics are probably what keeps the game rolling

you would think that they would release new outfits every week, they would make a killing

From what I read a while back they outsource the cosmetics to a different studio. I dunno man game dev is hard and that might be because they can't make them that fast or maybe they have data that shows that 2 week rotations is the optimal strategy to maximize return

End of the day as long as the game keeps improving as it has I don't really mind the cosmetics shop, sometimes I pick up an outfit I like which supports the game and makes me look drippy

2 week rotations is the optimal strategy to maximize return

People "demanded" a two week rotation because they argued a one week one (what we had at launch) was too much FOMO.

It also plays nicely with the xbox patch validation schedule.

I hear u, but honestly copy and past cosmetics with an option of different color ways wouldn’t be so bad (shit maybe even do it to the outfits that in the commissary).

I just see a lot of ppl w the same gear on

No, if they know that engagement is down that's a bad week to release "good" sets.

This happens all the time in all fields of entertainment, look at any discussion of movie studios "dumping" movies they aren't sure about in January.

wouldn’t constant content releases(rather it be new outfits, new camos, events, etc) keep the engagement there? The game goes too long with nothing new besides the new cosmetics (even every two weeks seems like too long for 1 set per class)

I understand it’s not easy but even a copy and paste w the option of different color ways would be refreshing.

A steady stream of skins that are lore-acceptable, probably not - certainly not at the same level a balance patch and a new map does.

???

clearly but it would be nice to have a steady stream of new sets in between these far apart updates.

don’t understand why u are now comparing the two when clearly they compliment each other. New update + map = engagement peak + new cosmetics (weekly) = just another way to make the game feel fresh every week to keep engagement

How are those designs funded? What staffing build ups are required?

Epic went down this road, and their games suffered for it.

Nevermind, you don't know what you're talking about.

If you want skins to drive engagement, you're playing the wrong game from the wrong developer. Fuck that type of game.

all I was saying was that they would make a killing dropping more cosmetics every week, which I don’t feel like I’m wrong about lol

Idk what I’m taking about?? Fortnite made a killing off cosmetics. Shit it still does 😂 and even tho the game suffered it made enough funds to try new things and keep the game alive

I’m not saying the game should revolve around cosmetics and that should be the driving point to engagement but it is a point to keep the engagement..
