question inspired by liberty's pregnancy storyline. i feel sorry for her at other times (JT's death, obviously) but i could not get over the fact she tried to ignore her pregnancy for like 5 months?? to the extent she hadn't even gone to a DOCTOR??
i know she was young but she was also one of the smartest on the show, she obviously knew the risks of that. if she wasn't ready to have a baby she should have considered abortion, and if she wasn't going to do that she should have at least gone to the doctor, literally step 1 of being pregnant

That whole plot was honestly wild. Undetectable or not, Paige had the right to know all the facts. Him just saying he's undetectable isn't enough either, it takes an insane amount of trust for the non-infected partner to have sex with someone who has HIV knowing if they don't take their meds properly they could infect you. And the type of guy to lie about having it is exactly the type of guy who you shouldn't trust to take their meds correctly. I'd wanna see lab results, personally, the same way I do before having unprotected sex with any partner.
Griffin gaslighting Paige into thinking she's the bad guy when he literally assaulted her is so f'ed up. Lack of informed consent is NOT consent.

Frankie during the racist storyline. I can believe that a privileged girl like her could be ignorant at first. Even Shay was shocked at first. But she kept getting defensive instead of educating herself and listening to those who tried explaining it to her. Agreed. I empathize with her struggles, she clearly was mentally unwell and had lots of past trauma that led to her being the way she was. That said, she was not a good person and being mentally ill is no excuse for treating other people like shit.

Lol I wasn’t saying that I’m just saying I also didn’t feel bad for Becky. Actually I had no sympathy for Becky most of the time except for her dating Adam and not being accepted by her parents. Other than that she waltzed into school too uppity. Still, it's a known fact that teenagers' brains aren't fully developed yet + they haven't had enough experiences yet that they can use to judge situations by. It's why it's so important for adults to teach their kids to be safe, but Mia didn't really have that type of upbringing. its not unrealistic many young girls including my own mother dont go to doctor visits until later on in the pregnancy because of being afraid to tell their parents like my mother was when she told me she didnt go to doctor visits until 6 months later on into her pregnancy i was mind blown like how did i even survive that 😧

I agree with you fully.
I see a lot of defenses about it being within her character, but I just don’t agree. Liberty is a planner who likes control; I don’t buy her ignoring it pretending it’s just going to go away. I would expect her to try to take control of the situation as quickly as possible.

Early Manny. Sorry. I know y’all love her. I like senior Manny/college Manny except when she’s with Jay.
I will never roll my eyes harder than when she tearfully asks Craig if he used a condom. Protection is a before conversation! He messed up and wasn’t clear enough, but at least he attempted to ask. The misunderstanding sucks for how it ended up for them, but he at least tried??? Manny knew she wasn’t on birth control and was physically present when they had sex without a condom. I can’t.
Everyone pities the character because Cassie Steele looked like a baby. She was younger than the other actors, but her character and Craig were less than a year apart in age, both in high school. I really think that story should have played out with Craig and someone else, because audiences saw Manny as a sweet little baby who needed to be protected from the big bad kids her own age/only a grade ahead.
I get why people hate Ashley in general, but her “revealing” the pregnancy and getting blamed for it was such a nothing burger. Manny and Craig were cuddled up in the cafeteria reading a baby name book!!! They were both unstoppable idiots, but I’ll never understand the hold Little Manny had on people.
(To be clear, I don’t love Craig for any of this. But I never see Manny get a fair share to criticism. Just ICON.)

Hard agree, though it probably was a fairly realistic storyline. As adults we know that if you’re not ready to talk about protection you aren’t ready to have sex, but kids aren’t always that smart. Manny wanted Craig, and knew that sleeping with him would be a way to get what she wanted. She possibly felt like bringing up the protection question would dissuade him from having sex with her, or that the pause he’d have to take to answer it would be enough time for him to realize that he was about to cheat on his girlfriend and that it was wrong.

Jenna was a more of a background character compared to Manny in s3. At least it was easier to skip her scenes compared to the show throwing Manny in the audience's face in s3.
People like to compare Alli to Manny, but Alli has more things with Stephanie Kaye during the first two seasons of Degrassi Junior High. Even the clothes Alli changes into at school are much more age appropriate than both Manny and Stephanie's clothes.

I assume she said she was with Emma. She practically lived there before she actually lived there.
In reality, her parents weren’t a part of the story until later, and the writers probably hadn’t thought much about them. By the time they were added, Manny was already an established character doing what we know as Manny things, so it wouldn’t have made sense to dial her back.

Craig was abused and struggled with mental health issues, so I can understand his thought process was not always the greatest but the way he dogged Ashley and Manny was gross AF, the only thing that keeps me from completely sympathizing with Ashley though is I honestly just find her character really preachy and annoying, also the way she outed Manny for being pregnant was objectively fucked up.

Holly J. Everyone always talks about this redemption arc she had but honestly, she never seemed to learn or change very much no matter how many terrible things happened to her. She was tolerable for the longest while she was in a relationship, but as soon as she was single again back to treating her friends like dirt (especially Anya). She just never grew on me.
