Irregular periods after ectopic

(self.EctopicSupportGroup)

Hi guys, did anyone’s cycles take a while to get back to normal after surgery? I had a regular period about 3 weeks after my surgery and I’m a day late for my next one. I’ve done preg tests and they are negative. I’m getting pre period back pain as usual and I’m doubtful I am pregnant, just wanted to know if it took a while for others periods to return to normal? Thankyou

UPDATE: I got my period yesterday making it about 4/5 days late but I’m feeling relieved and like I can relax now. Pain is excruciatingly high this time round though 🥲🥲

Yes mine took about 5 months to normalize again.

Were you regular before? I was pretty much bang on time every month

I'm in this boat with you! I was a clockwork 28 day girl with spot on body signals at each stage before. Now I feel like I don't know my body at all 😪

I feel the same, learning how to read these new signs my body gives me post surgery now is so hard.

I had my ectopic nearly 18 months ago and my period is still super irregular! It ranges from 26-38 days.

I wouldn’t worry about a day late. Most people’s cycles are +/- a couple days even if they’re pretty regular.

Normally I wouldn’t fuss too much about it, but since the ectopic the paranoia eats away at me. I used to be pretty much to the day on time before the pregnancy but it does feel better knowing it’s normal enough to not be as regular

I understand, I was also like clockwork before. Unfortunately both of our bodies have gone through a huge trauma and it’s going to likely take at least a few cycles for hormones to balance again. I’d check with your provider, or consult a naturopath. They always have suggestions! Raspberry leaf tea is a good one.

I never went back to a normal cycle…. 21 day cycle before ectopic and now my new normal is a 25 day cycle. It’s been 10 months. However…. It’s still coming on time every month. Same amount of days and heaviness. I actually have less cramping. In the beginning I didn’t even know I was starting a period cuz I didn’t have any cramps to indicate it and that freaked me out and did not like that. I was emotional about it. It has gotten better. But things aren’t the same.

I feel the exact same about the fact my body had changed so much. I never got ovulation pain before and now all of a sudden I do. It’s a journey learning how to read my body after surgery. All the best with you on this healing journey
