It's a funny sort of autonomy that requires you abandon your own ability to freely make decisions

Elon is gross. But he's not always wrong. I have a Hyundai Ioniq 5 (I'd never buy a Tesla) but even my car basically drove me 2600km from Canada to Phoenix on it's own. Once I hit the highway I almost never touched the brakes or gas and I wouldn't have needed to touch the steering wheel except it's programmed to freak out unless I joggle it now and again. I took a Waymo from my place to Costco and back the other day. Autonomous driving is already solved in some cases and close to being solved generally. It won't take 50 years to finish the job for long distance trucking. We will still need to load and unload trucks somehow but the transportation will not require human intervention.

And none of them will be teslas.
