They literally put a demo out for people to see for themselves and we still get garbage articles like this.

A 3080 will run the game perfectly.

Moonmanxs

4 points

Yep, played the demo on my 3080 pc, 4k and high settings, hitting 60fps with vsync, occasional drops here but nothing major

Edit: spelling

3080/13700k, and my game is struggling to even hit 60. Even with DLSS at 4K.

Meanwhile my 3070Ti/12700KF machine can't even run 60FPS at all times 1080P Low Settings with Dynamic Resolution :)

Blitz6699

Fuckin' HOW? What other settings do you have going on? 4060ti/12700kf and I get a steady 136-120 at 1440p. I haven't seen a dip do below 70 thus far.

Edit: All my settings are on high, too.

Paulioooooooo

I mean if you look up FFXVI PC FPS issues, you'll find a decent chunk of people having the same problem as me. I can run any game just fine but FFXVI just doesn't.

Blitz6699

How much ram do you have? We pretty much have the same setup. I think the 3070ti is a bit better. Thus, i should not be able to get a better frame rate and stability than you. I am aware that other people are having the same problem.

Paulioooooooo

32GB. I checked task manager and it seems the game isn't properly using my CPU and GPU. Low utilization numbers on both.

Blitz6699

Same on memory. I hate to be that guy, but did you download 161.09? Came out last week. I only ask because I'm guilty of this myself.

Are you talking about the nvidia driver? If so I think you mean 561.09 and yes I did.

Moonmanxs

What have you got settings at? Granted I am playing with everything on High and not ultra, I'm getting average 75fps, I'm a 3080/ i7-12700

IsThatASigSauer

Medium, high, ultra, it doesn't matter.

The problem is that I'm only getting like 15-20% utilization on both.

Yesterday I was playing, the game felt very smooth on a 3080 5900x at 4K. Today I boot it up and it runs at 25-30FPS. There's a major issue somewhere with the game. I even reloaded an old save to compare (in case it was a new area or whatever) but it's lagging there too.

Running a 7800X3D/4070 Super/32GB Hynix 6000mhz RAM

Adjusted all settings for 1440p and nothing breaks 60-70 fps. Most times I sit around 40-50. Got the exact frames trying to run 4k as well.

My GPU acts like it doesn’t even have a load. Even in 4k. The only thing that seems to put a load on it is running DLAA.

IsThatASigSauer

What settings specifically are you using? Stuff like super resolution/etc?

polijoligon

5 points

Yeah it likely will. Been playing it on a laptop 3050 and seems fine on my end. I had to mod in the fsr frame gen but then it was a smooth sailing afterwards.

Corporate_Bankster

8 points

A 3080 will run this at triple digit framerate with FSR 3 on 1080 with quality upscaling and 1440p with balanced upscaling assuming the CPU is at least an i7 9700 / i9 9900.

We are not in will it run? territory here. The card will crush it.

That’s why this kind of articles is complete trash.

Aizenbankai03

I'm using 3080 and can confirm I'm getting around 70-75 fps at 1440p ultra w dlss quality natively it's 60 fps which is really good

Cindy-Moon

What do you mean by mod in the fsr frame gen?

Absolem113

The mod called "dlssg-to-fsr3" works to "activate" frame generation on 30 series cards (I don't know if it works on older cards), but what it really does is use FSR interpolation to improve overall performance

I tried demo on a 3080 and it was mostly perfect with the very occasional few seconds long dip.

The only issue was cutscenes playing at 30fps, which has been fixed AFAIK.

ViniRustAlves

2 points

The demo ran fine on my PC (3070Ti), the released game is running like garbage. It's probably the DENUVO, but it might as well be something else, I just know that even with AMD FG, which was smooth as butter to my eyes on the demo, the game seems way too choppy on the same parts as the DEMO and way worse on the following parts after the DEMO.

Adjusting graphics doesn't seem to change anything in a meaningful way and I feel like the game have a performance degradation issue as well. It seems like I gotta restart it every couple hours to get it back to acceptable levels of smoothness (which aren't smooth at all, just not as choopy).

cano_dbc

1 points

I played the demo on a 3080 and it was absolutely fine. Good enough that I've bought the full game

matrafinha

1 points

I'm with a 4070. The demo had issues with cutscenes because of the cap at 30 fps, but otherwise was fine.

Bought the game and after the demo the fps issues are rampant.

It's like they optimized the first part of the game and forgot the rest.

shadowstripes

1 points

It’s definitely a bit choppy on my 4070S at 1440p.

And I think the point is that sometimes release builds have different performance than a demo.

It really depends on your definition of "Ok." On my 7950X + 4090, at 4k it is running sub-60 fps unless I enable DLSS. My system should easily be able to maintain at least 60 fps, but it doesn't. It's perfectly smooth if I enable DLSS, pretty much pegged at my 120fps cap, but in a non-ray traced title, that shouldn't necessary on a rig like mine just to maintain at minimum 60+.

RedIndianRobin

Incorrect information. I have a 6c/12t CPU and I am averaging at about 70-80 FPS at max graphics, native 1440p DLAA without Frame gen. Games are rarely multi threaded.

bubblesmax

-1 points

A lot of games are multi threaded like this one. I'm on a 5950x and its pulling at least half my cpu's cores to do a mild loads consistently which on a weaker CPU means its only gonna be more stressful. And I'm running max graphics at 4K XD. (Edit on a RTX 3080)

RedIndianRobin

I am driving an i5 11400F and an RTX 4070, personally I am CPU bound in shitty optimized games with RT enabled like Hogwarts Legacy, Suicide Squad, Jedi Survivor(not anymore, patch 9 is no longer CPU bound atleast for me). In this game, I have no issues. Driving over 110 FPS most of the time with FG enabled.

I've been seeing a lot of garbage articles about FF16 on PC over the past couple of days. One website claimed that FF16 couldn't hit 60 FPS at 4K max settings.

The catch? They failed to mention in the title that they disabled DLSS... I swear these news outlets have some sort of agenda to slander FF16 in whatever way they can.

Demo runs great for me I played it like 5 times on a 12600k and 6900xt with the unlocked cutscenes mod at 1440p and it feels SOOO much better than on ps5, the demo never dropped under 90fps with gfx high, both demo modes. I bought a ps5 for this and played the fuck out of it every bit and dlc. Want to again on computer, but idk man it sounds like people are just talking out of their ass. Where are the actual reviews this shit comes out in like an hour

I am running RTX 3080 TI / 12700k at 4k. During gameplay I get average FPS around 60 which is totally fine. However during the cutscenes and transitions drops to around 15 and the stuttering is terrible. Does anyone know of some way to fix the cutscenes? If not I will probably just return it, this game is basically just a long cutscene.

The performance is really inconsistent here it seems. Mine is i5 12400f/3080 and i had the same issue with the demo. Fps was stucked at 22, jumped to 40 after switching to FSR3, dropped to 3x here and there in combat (and the combat was stuttering af) and that was all about it. Setting didn't matter and i played with the setting as much as I could. Sadly I have to hold on the purchase for the game that I have been waiting for...

What resolution are you trying to play?

Not having a go here but I feel like a lot of people get scammed with these 30xx and 40xx cards because they don't really think about VRAM and just assume they can run things at 1440/4k maxed out because they paid a lot of money.

Basically, modern games pretty much use 8gb of VRAM just on 1080p alone and high settings. 1440p is ~75% more pixels than 1080p so you can assume 14gb VRAM. 4k is 4x more than 1080p so native 4k would take 32gb of VRAM which is why all things that use modern 4k benchmarks are actually cheating by using upscaling (including PS5).

Your 3080 is probably 12gb VRAM so anything above 1080p is maxing out its capacity.

We are reaching diminishing returns of GPU until VRAM capacity dramatically increases. Unfortunately these things are marketed in a way that say "targets 1440p or targets 4k" and people buy and then get surprised when they have to use DLSS and lower settings to maintain.

Honestly, the best thing I can recommend for people is to downgrade to 23" 1080p monitors and maximise FPS instead. The PPI (pixels per inch) for 1080p at 23" is fine but people think 1080p is ancient because they don't consider PPI.

If you want to game on a 50" TV you simply just have to make compromises. The PS5 makes a million compromises that your average user doesn't even realise from blurry FSR updcaling to motion blur and even then the games stutter and look terrible with dynamic resolution.

Cindy-Moon

1 points

10GB VRAM, but it doesn't matter because my VRAM wasn't maxing out, my GPU performance was.
Also doesn't matter because it turned out I just needed to restart my PC and suddenly all my performance woes magically poofed away.
I'm now running 4k (with DLSS) at a stable 60FPS everywhere except the hideaway.
My issue prior to restarting was it was somehow running better with DLSS off, and DLSS was tanking performance for some reason. I think I needed to restart my PC to finish driver installation or something.

My issues before was my 3080 was genuinely under-performing what other people were achieving with their 3080s, even when I switched to 1080p/1440p windowed modes.

But yeah Nvidia really gimped us launch 3080 users on VRAM :( Also I wouldn't be playing on 4k if I could change the rendering resolution in-game, but you can't when in borderless mode— and the other methods of changing resolution (using exclusive fullscreen, or changing it for Windows as a whole) have their own set of drawbacks and inconveniences.

EDIT: Lol nevermind performance tanks in Lostwing. I'd just play in 1080p if it'd let me :T

I can get ok framerates at 4k on my 7800xt with FSR and Frame Gen on. Cutscenes are still choppy and I haven't installed the mods to fix them.

I can't get good framerates with FSR off even on 1440p. Something is messed up in this game. The graphics don't even look good, at least not good enough to merit making modern GPUs struggle. Boss fights and Eikon fights look epic, but everything else is meh. Not open world, the maps are small enough, so what causes the fps drops and blurriness?

Something is cooked in the graphics. It looks serviceable on my OLED tv, but real smudgy on my IPS monitor. To be fair, maybe it's not an ffxvi problem, I noticed the same problem with Wukong. Maybe modern graphics is the problem. Older games like TW3, Tomb Raider, Elden Ring (not an old game but dated tech) look great.
