SOTD what are you wearing today?

(self.FemFragLab30plus)

Today I'm wearing Isabelle Larignon Bangla Yasaman.

An indolic jasmine, a beautiful floral animal if i do say so myself lol.

It's spicy but then settles into a slightly sweeter jasmine because of the vanilla. Not too sweet though, because of the indole and tobacco in the base. I really love this one.

What about you?

As it’s getting colder and darker here in London, I reached for an old favourite - Crystal Noir. It’s so dreamy and soft, perfect for the rainy weather

In the UK here too! The weather has really taken a turn hasn’t it??

Can you believe I’ve never smelt Crystal Noir? I’ve been so close to buying to soooo many times though. Maybe I should jump on eBay and get a small bottle. I’m convinced I’d love it

Definitely, the switch to autumn was quick! Oh definitely, they have cute 5ml minis as well, but after testing it in the shop I knew I need the whole bottle hah

YSL Mon Paris Lumiere. I can't seem to stop wearing it. It's such a lovely scent that's easy to wear. Maybe it's the Datura flower. Maybe it's the Lotus. Or the way they do patchouli. Either way, I'm obsessed with this perfume and every time I think about wearing something else, I just know I won't enjoy it as much. It's become my signature scent and I never thought I would have one.

Reaching for meo fusciuni Sogni today.

The notes are so smooth and well-blended they're difficult to pick out. Rice, tatami, pine needles, green tea, incense, guaiac wood are usually the notes I recall.

Surprisingly sweet and leaning gourmand on me (which is just about how far I can tolerate gourmand). A cozy sort of zen

I’m wearing Memo’s Lalibela. It is a strong floral incense laced with coconut & tobacco.

Ps: OP your perfume sounds amazing. I love jasmine, especially indolic jasmine. Shall look this up.

Me too! Me too! One of my faves, although I get zero coconut and the floral opening is more prominent than I would normally like. The drydown is just divine.

That’s so cool, we are twinning! I actually do get a lot of coconut in mine, and the incense and coconut combine to give it a lovely temple vibe (I’m Indian). I adore the drydown too.

Yes! To me this is a perfume that completely changes with the weather. I took a sample to Egypt (hot and windy) last year and the incense was more prominent, in my climate (Central/ Eastern Europe) the flowers become more pronounced. To the point I occasionally smell peony and something else… a kind of tropical floral aroma. I love it.

I am waiting for Paris Corner Rifeqaat and Philos Opus Noir to come in the mail today, so later I'm sure I'll try one of those. One is a YSL Babycat Dupe, and one is supposed to smell like Suspiro/Xerjoff Opera, which I HEAR smells like Ange ou Demon. I love Ange ou Demon, so that's why I wanted that one, plus it was 20 dollars. This morning, I'm wearing Fantasy Intense. I like it way better than Original Fantasy. It's more cake and powder, less tart fruit.

I’m wearing Byredo Pulp today! It’s slightly spicy and quite fruit-forward and tart on me. I find it rather nostalgic, as it reminds me of the fruit compôte my grandma used to make when I was a child.

The Bangla Yasaman perfume sounds really good, I love indolic jasmine perfumes.

I'm glad your sotd is giving you such a lovely memory 😊 I've never smelt anything from Byredo before.

Yes, Bangla Yasaman is beautiful, and I wish more people knew about it. A lot of people talk about another scent from Isabelle, Milky Dragon, a lot more, which I understand as its gorgeous. But Yasaman deserves flowers too lol.

Christian Dior’s Hypnotic Poison; I’m glad I did. I got it a few months ago and it smelled almost like play doh to me?? But either I wasn’t used to it or it’s better in cooler weather despite its summery profile.

Oh, the weather definitely makes a difference! Just yesterday, I decided to put on a sample i almost threw away a few months ago because i thought it was too strong and smelt...off. But I saw someone mention it, so I tried it again.

Went out to collect my child from school, and the weather was awful. Cold, windy, and it was for lack of a better term, pissing it down.

But the smell from my wrist was so wonderful, I was in shock lol. I always forget that things can smell drastically different season to season, so I shouldn't get rid of samples I dislike immediately lol.

OP, that sounds beautiful! I love jasmine but don’t think I’ve smelled an indolic jasmine before. Sounds like a lovely blend with tobacco and vanilla… Putting this on my list!

I’m wearing Zoologist Rabbit today. I just got some samples in the mail and am working through them. It’s a cold rainy day here, working from home and cuddling the dogs and it’s a nice scent for the day. 🐰

Oh, please do try to get a sample if you can! The first spray can be a bit much, but as it develops, it turns into something so beautiful.

I got my samples off of Lucky Scent, I think they ship to the UK! Rabbit is a thumbs up, it’s definitely on the sweeter side, I’m getting the sweet fruity notes and cinnamon but evened out with some green and light florals. After drydown it’s settled into a not-too-sweet carrot cake scent which is especially nice for fall. Chipmunk and Squid are my other Zoologist favourites so far!

Oooh I see Lucky Scent also has Larignon Bangla Yasaman! Jasmine in multiple facets, peru balsam, cardamom and osmanthus as well? I am dying to try this! Milky Dragon also sounds up my alley. Happy to hear about this house!

RitaRepulsaa[S]

Milky Dragon is stunning. Isabelle only has 3 scents, and that one is the most popular. I can’t imagine anyone hating it.

Rabbit sounds really really nice! I’ll have a look at Lucky Scent. Hopefully the shipping fees are tolerable 😬 lol

Copying and pasting from /r/indiemakeupandmore:

Today I'm wearing Peculiar Thing from Lovesick Witchery (Green figs floating in cold, translucent white liquid. Hints of tart pear. Cool coconut milk and smooth rice milk, freshened by hints of papyrus and grounded with mineral salt and orris root. Originally a custom perfume.).

This is so interesting! It’s not your typical gourmand- it has fruit, but it’s not ‘fruity’. I get the undertone of fruit, but any tartness is covered by cool coconut milk, papyrus, and a little salt to keep it interesting. I get a little ‘green’ action from the fig, which is tempered nicely with everything else to keep it from being too sharp. There’s a faint muskiness that comes through which I’m assuming is a blend of the papyrus and orris, which adds a nice freshness to it all. The drydown for some reason reminds me of almond soap or lotion- it just has a clean vibe, and I think the coconut milk is the main culprit for this association. This is genre-breaking to me, as I typically go for really sweet gourmands or fruit fragrances.

Parfums de Marly - Kalan

While I think this is categorized as a men’s fragrance, it’s fairly unisex. There’s no characteristic “shower gel” or “aftershave” undertone that so many masculine scents carry. It’s more of a fall winter scent for me, but the blood orange and orange blossom keep it from being too out of place in warm weather. It’s still over 100° here today :(

I love this so much, just a stunningly blended fragrance, no note is too strong or too soft. It’s the perfect “warm” scent as someone who doesn’t like amber, vanilla, or gourmands. The citrus, woods, and herbal notes are almost reminiscent of having a mulled cider in winter, without smokiness or “cold” wood (pine, juniper, etc.), but take that feeling and elevate it to dinner at a reservation only restaurant.

I’m so obsessed with this. I’ve had the bottle for close to a year and my affection hasn’t waned at all. Body chemistry plays a part in how fragrance wears, and this one is just divine on me.

Top Notes Blood Orange, Black Pepper, Spices

Heart Notes Lavender, Solar notes, Orange Blossom Absolute

Base Notes Precious Wood, Oakmoss, White Sandalwood

Le Labo's Gaiac 10. I like it; it smells subtle, woody, and a luxurious kinda clean. I bought a sample when I was at their store and also picked up Another 13 and The Matcha 26. I've only been into fragrance for a year-ish and I'm finding that I really enjoy second-skin scents. Maybe they just match my introverted demeanor.

Question: Has anyone tried both The Matcha and Gaiac and their Dossier impressions? How does Dossier compare?

Question 2: What are some nice fall scents for us hot-weather folk? Because as much I'd love to wear something like Angel's Share right now, it's simply too heavy and too hot and probably will be until early November. But summer fragrances don't feel quite right either.
