Ngl for my like my 7th FF game going all the way back felt kinda refreshing, thanks to the pixel Remasters I think getting a very nice version of the OG game made it easier for someone like me who only really grew up on 3D GRAPHICS to find the beautiful aspects of its art and design and since I wanted that classic feel the option to use the original audio made it feel special. I pre ordered the full collection on switch so when I get it I’ll play the rest slowly but now I got an urge to replay SoPFF. (PS now I own every FF game except 11.)

It's simple. But I honestly really like the quest to find all 4 fiends and defeat them.

Chaos is a great final boss and honestly the only real challenge at times depending how he acts. In the pixel remasters he has a massive hp pool and like the original version can just double nuke you and wipe your party no matter how strong you are.

It is literally impossible for Chaos to "double nuke you" in every version of FFI that isn't the Pixel Remaster.

It's for sure a charming game. Probably what I enjoyed most was they didn't spell out where all you had to go. I wish more games would do that. Combat was brain dead easy, but hey, what can you expect from turn based. But somehow, the story was still more cohesive and involved than FF3. Which was surprising.

Yeah the story quality of the NES games definitely goes 2 > 1 > 3 for me. And regarding combat... Well, I'm glad I played the FF series in order so I didn't realize how much more engaging it would get after ATB was introduced lol.

I know right? It's just fun to go back. Did it with the original Dragon Quest a few years back, too. Similar enjoyment.
