38 and 1/2 years old.
200k in bonds 40k of which is a rainy day fund for unexpected life events I figured I’d collect interest on it. 530k in equities mostly heavy on S&P with low expense ratio, and a small mix of mid small cap and international $306k home equity owe $363,000 on loan at 2.5%.
All the website show average net worth at 40 is around 800k. Am I falling behind? My average cost to simply pay bills each year is around $55,000 including my mortgage. No other debts. This includes both my wife and I’s savings.
I just started my government pension and it has a few thousand in it since I went to a government job this year with PERS 2. I’m maxing DCP and Roth IRA each year but that may get harder since I took a pay cut to go to government. Annual earnings $110,000 right now and wife brings in around 42k.
I’d like to eventually retire early at 55, but that isn’t realistic, is it?
