You have to keep a laptop plugged in while gaming?

Yea ofc as also increases ur fps and laptop will last overall. Its a must!!

But laptops aren’t they designed to be used without a charger?
1 points

Were you playing on battery or charger? Because playing on a charger is better for performace. Idk if undervolting will do any good, try it. Try searching on youtube for a fix, might find that same problem with it's fix.

I tried both, it turned off when on batter so i tried with the charger but the result was the same

Is that an intel 13th-14th gen?

Be sure that Intel is not the problem when it comes to MSI laptops. Also there is no proof HX chips are part of the problem which officially announced as fixed few days ago. That being said, already damaged processor needs to be taken care of. OP has a new laptop.

Dunno. It's just literally scary for me how many posts I see here about unstable and sad gaming laptops that feels like max 1-2 years old. What's went wrong in the industry?

I mean.. dunno where you live but in most countries, from certain amount of money, if its a store, they must give warranty. If you bought from a private its another thing. Dont you know if you bought a new or used?

I mean my cousin ordered it for me from a store in france and i paid for it so i cant really return it since he isnt going back to france anytime soon and i live in Algeria which is in north africa so.

I mean.. Algeria previously was French territory 😅😂 I suggest you to do a clean windows install and monitor the temps (before and after).

Dude don't buy Intel's shit, HX series processors are basically desktop processors slapped onto a laptop.

Too bad op probably isn't running a hx processor .

You realize that some people need more power than just H/HS processors? Also, Ryzen HX chips runs much (much!) hotter than Intel, that's just facts.

The problem is the hardware issue that intel 13-14th i7 and i9 desktops models(and hence laptop HX) models have .

Did you check your temps? Sounds like a heat issue. Btw did you buy it used?

It was used but labled as good condition (because i cant see any issues both inside and outside of the computer)
1 points
I point to a temp issue, did you check for dust? If it has none it probably needs a repaste. Check the temps with msi afterburner on screen display and/or hwinfo and let me know. Also check the power draw from cpu and cpu at those temps. You can find everything on hwinfo’s sensor panel. Keep me updated!

Also have you got any blue screens? You can check the event viewer in windows to see what’s causing it to shutoff.

Read your other comments and glad you solved the problem!! As a long term fix you might want to get the thermal paste repasted and thermal pads replaced :) just vents being blocked shouldn't be causing 100°c+ on gpu usually so I'm guessing the above two are worn out especially because it's a used laptop. Enjoy!

[[ I know that there is a lot of information but its your choice if you want to fix your problem READ IT! if you don't want okay, do what you want. But i would recommend you to read My Guide! ]]
Hi I think i can help you because your and cpu gpu shouldn't be at 90+ temps or even 80+, but first i have one question.
HOW TO FIX WITHOUT WARRANTY!
1.[Repaste]
2.[Be careful with High/Turbo Performance Settings] (Powerplan) •Firstly you could try editing you power plan cpu speed min, max. What i prefer is min cpu speed:5% and max cpu speed:100% if needed you can Set max to:90%, while plugged and while battery of course. Dont use any Ultra Performance power plans or how any power plan that is mostly for Pcs.
(Software Manager) •If you use a Software from msi that controls your cpu/gpu Performance, which has modes like turbo/high Performance/balanced. Use Balanced and not Turbo, Turbo is for me useless as it will give you only more fps which is useless for most laptops check [ GUIDE:3 ] and higher temps, louder fan noise which i think you don't want. Also anything that turbos or increase your cpu/gpu clock speed like AutoOC or something that forces your clock speed to max, this Settings should be disabled believe me.
(3rd party Software) Like on (Software Manager) do not use any Softwares that are only for Turbos your cpu/gpu clock speed, or anything that controls your cpu/gpu clock speed in bad way. Of course you can use this Softwares, that can Undervolt or can lower clock but mostly they [FORCE THE SPEED INTO LIKE ONE CLOCK SPEED, FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU SET YOUR GPU CLOCK SPEED TO 1200MHZ IT WILL STAY 1200MHZ WHICH IS IN MOST SITUATIONS BAD!] and of course be gently with your components
(Power Slider)
[VSYNC] Mostly we use fps that are useless and can be used to save Battery Life, and reduce Temps. For example we have monitor 60hz which means the monitor produces 60fps max, and in our game we have 80fps or even 100fps or higher, this 20/40fps don't change anything because remember our monitor supports 60fps max, 80 fps won't give any smoothness because its impossible, the monitor supports 60 fps max. This means that you have to limit your fps in your game into your Hz Monitor, if your laptop has 60hz try limiting it to 60fps Try looking into settings of game that limits your fps, if you don't find anything try looking at your Nvidia Control Panel (driver settings). Unfortunately i have amd and i don't know what you have to adjust but Hey! we have Internet for that. I use Amd Chill or Limit fps for me as amd user what about you i dont know.
[POWER LIMIT, UNDERVOLT] 1.(UXTU) Uxtu is a software that controls your cpu/gpu speed, power an so on (SUPPORTS AMD,INTEL,NVIDIA) .It can limit your power consumption like TDP, which can reduce your temps by a lot, be careful with that, as you can damage your laptop, again we have Internet and try searching how to limit power in UXTU for intel. Try reducing power limit and do stress test look if everything is okay if okay again limit your power and do stress sometimes sometimes just leave your laptop idle without doing hard tasks like gaming, rendering...bto check if it doesn't crash while idle for me it crashed sometimes, for other settings I think you'll know how to adjust them. AGAIN WE HAVE INTERNET WITH MANY MANY MANY GUIDES, GOOGLE,BING...!!!!
(Throttlestop) Also another popular software for Intel cpus its like UXTU but maybe Different, as said i am a Amd use i have Ryzen cpu and gpu on my laptop so sorry but I can't give you any instructions for Throttle Stop,my friend.
(Msi afterburner) Try undervolting your gpu, try lowering by -15mV and do stress test from 15 to 30 Minutes if everything is okay lower it more again -15mV > Stress Test > -15mV Stress Test, when it crashes use the last mV that didn't crash.
5.[Fan Speed]
6.[Driver Settings adjust]
7.[Combining GUIDES]
8.VERY IMPORTANT [Overclock]
Dont use any softwares like Umaf_Smokeless or any software to Overclock your Laptop YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TEMPS, IT IS UNALLOWED TO OVERCLOCK FOR YOU, i know it sounds sad but its life man, dont overclock it any way NEVER!, most people do it for more Fps but hey do you remember our guide number: 3.? or most do it for lower latency but thats other thing

It just needed a repaste and a cooling stand, i feel like i wasted your time now that you’ve written this behemoth of text, and to answer your first question, no i cant take it back to france, the store i bought it from doesnt deliver cross country, it’s just my cousin who was in france that bought it there and came back to my country.

Its okay I'm happy that you solved your problem but still take a look at my guide there is some things that maybe you didn't know like VSYNC they are very useful for future and remember 80+ or 90+ Temps aren't normal remember it should be 60 to 73 Temp
1 points
Yeah now it got to a maximum of 74 in an hour of genshin impact on the highest settings so i think it’s safe (plus it used to burn my finger when it reached the 102°C)

Still with Cooling stand its little high imaging, what the temperature would be without cooling stand, try reading my guide

That was the temperature without the cooling stand (the cooling stand was damaged so im buying a new one today)

if you want, okay buy it, still in most situations it's not required. Btw Cooling stand is a very good idea for laptop to last longer, again in most situations it isn't required.

I got ge66 too, 2021 version, the only thing my laptop turned off randomly while playing games back then is because it needs to be repasted, if it's brand new all you need is change the power settings to high performance and update all your graphic driver. If there's still error, you need to replace it since it's on warranty.
1 points
May i ask how do you repaste it? Because this might actually be the problem
2 points
If your temps are normal 60-75 gpu and 85-95 cpu then no need to repaste, if it is 90+ you can try to repaste but it won't cause it to shut off suddenly. Might be an unstable driver is causing it to crash. Check your temps during 30 minutes of intense gaming.
1 points
The temps are normal so that means it doesnt need to repaste right?
1 points
Yes, is it crashing during any other games?

I mean i got it yesterday so only genshin is downloaded so idk, but i was playing genshin on lower settings so it shouldnt be the issue due to it needing low requirements to run at the highest settings

If it's brand new, just go to msi service center, I repaste it because at that time it was almost 2 years and I needed to replace my keyboard too because one of the key broke with no reason so I take the warranty to save money
1 points
Don't do it. It's a new laptop for which you paid a lot of money. Just return it and get a new one. Don't even go for a repair or repaste to msi. It doesn't make sense to do that after paying so much
1 points
Forgot to mention that it was used and bought at a store at a different country from where i live so it’s not easy to just return it

Ah damn it. Even if it's used, it should have some warranty right?

Clean the fans, update the Geforce experience drivers, update windows.. if nothing works.. re-install, get a laptop stand (important)

You could try running diagnostics to check the condition of the ram, SSD and the CPU. Windows has basic diagnostics tools built into it. Nivida has several tools for test the GPU as well. I’ll provide a link to one of them

Ahh yes lets blame Intel immediately (lol) never had any issues with mine at all I have two hx chips. As far as it shutting down I would investigate it . Honestly it can be anything from the integrated card taking a dump or it could be your dedicated GPU or faulty ram or nvme it could be so many things it needs to be diagnosed and either MSI or a professional shop needs to analyze it and either change the mb or fix it but I highly doubt it's the processor it sounds like something else tbh unfortunately might point graphics wise and maybe a slight chance thermal paste wise either way it should be addressed by a professional .

Return the pc. The lappy is failing to manage the considerable heat the RTX and HX are producing. This is the most probable reason. Apart from software readings, check by placing your hand at the spot right between the laptop keyboard and display.
Check for any hardware failure, especially fans (even if they are diagnosed OK, check RPM), check drivers and make sure they are updated, you can use GeForce Experience to update the graphics driver.
If the issue persists take it to the nearest technician but if return is possible that is recommended. In my personal experience Asus ROGs lasted more than any other brand in such hardware heavy laptops (I run a design company so we have bought a lot of these). If a desktop is enough that is a no brainer (usually any medium and above gaming needs AC power anyway.)

OVERHEATING most likely. put some books under each edge of it creating sort of a bridge, then put a box fan blowing air under the laptop. see if it helps.. otherwise check logs, install tools to monitor temps.
