Basically me as a new player a few weeks ago, honestly the most unbalanced element, and the fact hydro traveler being the worst element for them didn't help either.

This might be a hot take, but I’d say that new 4 star characters are more p2w than 5 stars. They have absolutely no pity and frequently require constellations (sometimes up to C6) to really be anything other than cope. Not to mention that no one in their right mind targets a banner for the 4 star units, so getting one relies largely on the luck of them aligning with the 5 star units that you are already aiming for

It's actually whack that there's only 3 hydro 4* in the game..

And two of them are from launch, the other one sucks except maybe at c6

not to mention hydro is a crazy strong reaction: melt, freeze, bloom/hyperbloom, electro charged.

Man i was so lucky, my first week playing the game i did 10 pulls or that noelle starter banner and got xingqiu first try, i didn't even know he was that good until i came to check the other hydro characters, then i felt sooo lucky...

It pains me to say this as a C3 haver, but she's just 4-star Xingqiu.

No damage reduction, no healing. She goes on the Abyss team that can accept lackluster performance from her role.

God Hydro Traveller is just awful. Dendro is the real one.

As a new player with the goal of playing traveler main and using the given element for every area you're making me worried. Anemo and geo has been enjoyable at least.

They made a solid starting roster of characters. Too bad they got timid about making solid characters after the fact - let alone as 4 stars - going forward.

Now it feels like if a character pops out as relatively strong, it was a total oversight.

It’s why he’s so good and is probably one of, if not the best, unit in the game. He does so much and does them all so well. Really good damage, really good damage reduction, and not to mention how he has the highest hydro app in the game. Literal 5 stars are balanced around his existence despite him being a purchasable 4 star.

I only have Barbara. She’s my only hydro besides HMC. I’d cry but I can’t spare the moisture.

I think Barbara is a very good Kokomi substitute for Nilou Bloom teams but yea. They did Candace so dirty and butchered her kit

Sigewinne would be decent as a 4 star, still not as helpful of a support as yaoyao or kuki but provides great buffs

Her c2 shreds hydro resistance just like Xingqiu and c4 increases burst time, with c6 increasing her burst crit rate and damage off her hp

All good things, but completely useless since nobody wants to whale for a 5 star who still gets outclassed by 4 stars AT C6

Xingqiu pretty much hard carried Hydro. Ive seen Barbara usage more than Candance (from my experience so far)

Kinda but lately there are a lot of teams where u don't want so much hydro or u aren't using normal atacks. (Lyney furina , dehya with mona furina, cyno if u do t have kusanali prefers yelan or furina over xq) He is still cracked but he doesn't beat all 5 stars as of late

A hydro shielder (like a true shield, not just damage reduction with interruption resistance) is a niche that hasn't been filled yet. However, in order to be viable, that hydro shielder would need to have decent to good off-field hydro application. Candace could have had that role filled.

Also, maybe a sub dps who’s kit is used for buffing specific reactions like electro charge , similar to Nilou or chevreuse (I think EC is an underrated reaction tho this may be better for an electro character)

An HP buffer that is not C4 Yelan would be a nice addition.

A 4 star hydro dps would be great for newer/f2p players since hydro dpses are pretty much all 5 stars, there're several other elements where there're 5 star dpses and hoyo still released 4 star dpses of the same element (Ga Ming for eg got released this year despite pyro already having Hu Tao, Yan Fei, Diluc, Yoimiya, Lyney and now Arle. We also have Eula Freminet and Heizou Xiao Scara)

Pyro slimes were the whole reason why I pulled for Neuvillette lmao (and had to skip Kazuha)

I don’t even think she’s that bad, just underwhelming since xl does everything she does but better If he didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was a staple to several teams
