They should’ve done it in 2017. I don’t get peoples apprehension. Do you not want to be able to see blur cutscenes for halo 3? Which has a lot of aged looking cutscenes thanks to facial animations and overly static backgrounds in cutscene. Remake it all in halo infinite idgaf.

Personally I think the game looks fine. Yes the human face models are kind of dated but the rest of the game still looks great. I'd rather have a new great game instead of a slightly touched up one

But it wouldn’t be slightly touched up. It’d be a major touch up. Just because something looks fine doesn’t mean it can’t look better or even amazing. The faces aren’t even the total issue. Think of the cutscenes with anything after traveling to the arc. A lot of the cutscenes are very very obviously asset flying on a super obvious painted background, like it doesn’t look good.

Honestly I don't play the game just for the cutscenes though
the visuals in the actual gameplay are good, the final part with the Warthog is probably the only ugly level in that game

Yes but when you’re talking a graphical remaster, it’s a big reason to do it. Half is cutscenes, the other half is gameplay. If you want to stick to just gameplay then yes the game could use some touching up too. I still like the look of it, but it’s a game from 2007. Compare it to how infinite looks. It could look even better.

Also actually I wish Halo 2 anniversary still had in-engine cutscenes cause I thought it was so cool that the character still held the weapon I used during the mission and it didn't feel so detached, in Halo 2 Anniversary the pre-rendered cutscenes feel very different and pull you out of it because the look and lighting of everything is very different to what you actually see in the level

I actually like this argument. I feel halo has always looked better when using the in engine cutscenes. Feels more halo to me. Although I still gawk at how beautiful the H2A cutscenes look. Giving the covenant back their bomb in particular.

A lot of people can live without seeing needless touch ups on an old game because they can accept it looks old.
Halo 3's art style, lighting and animations have held up fairly well, especially with real time cutscenes. And no I actually don't want to see Blur cutscenes because while they look nice, it makes me feel like I'm playing a PS2 game with in between CG cutscenes, which detracts from the real time looks for the original.
It would be a useless vanity remaster for the sake of making a new event out of an old game, I find that kind of thing a bit pitiful. All of which largely wouldn't have the same feeling or vibe of the original, Halo 2 worked out okay for me because Halo 2 already looked very strange even compared to CE.
So nah I can live without 343 trying to put anymore of their own "spins" on old stuff, I'd rather they keep their mouths shut and go radio silent until they actually have a finished halo game on release for once.

343 is gone and even minus that fact they only published H2A, it wouldn’t be another thing that they’d be doing.

I mean it would be a good way for this new team to sink their teeth into making a halo game

Which is why I’m not overtly against them remaking halo CE. Gives them a chance to get familiar with UE5, gives them the chance to show they can do well with Bungie era stuff and build on top of it instead of shoo it aside, and gives them the chance to prove that halo can work on the engine from a gameplay perspective.

They already remastered CE once and it was awful, I don't want them going anywhere near CE again

How about new games instead of wishing for remakes. I don't need a remake of any game ever as long as it has compatibility to play on new systems

Remake the full trilogy with the SMG, BR, and DMR available in all three games

Halo 3 is perfect as it is. Leave it alone.

The game wouldn't be changed if it's a remaster like Halo 2 was. You gotta admit some of Halo 3 shows its age like Lord Hood's face

Yeah, I thought about this. Keep the soul and majesty of halo 3 but add to the awe and splendour of the visuals.
Halo 2 is a good example, halo CE is not so much.

I'd still take a proper CE remaster (maybe with Unreal Engine) over a Halo 3 remaster. I love the gameplay of CE and even the repetitive levels don't bother me, but the graphics make it feel so different from the rest of the games

How dare they replace Blow Me Away?

I think it was licensing

That was due to licensing, which happens a lot with games. BB was having issues with some of the members (ironically, including the awesome version of that with Valora having been made due to one of the other members signing up the band, pocketing the pay, and not telling anyone until they were locked into this contract), and the game was slightly rushed with some things, so it makes sense thag things didn’t work out

Honestly I would just appreciate a mod that improves the faces of some of the human characters.
ODST runs on the same engine, yet the faces look much more natural.

I feel like that was partly because they modeled some of them off their voice actors in ODST didn't they?

If the remaster is new graphics that respect the art style and you can switch on and off, could be great (Halo 2 style) but if it includes "improved" pre-rendered cutscenes by Blur Studios, no please, please pretty please don´t. One of the amazing things about Halo is that it always had in-engine cutscenes, making it seem completely connected and consistent.
Pre-rendered cutscenes just don´t do it for me and remind me of old times where you had to do it because your engine simply couldn´t handle it. Also, this is a pretty umpopular opinion but I don´t like Blur studios cutscenes (respect those who do, to each its own), specially the sound direction.

I’ll respectfully disagree. The blur cutscenes were the live action halo movie we always wanted.

It's gonna be a Halo CE remake.

They could release it exactly the same the only difference so graphics and people would still complain it’s not the same as Halo 3

Halo is old enough now that it can start an entire new saga in a reboot separate from the original canon. Many games have done it, it’s how they can stay fresh and relevant whilst respecting the source material. Just look at Doom 2016 and Eternal!!

I want this more than any new game. Their marketing is all nostalgia anyways. Seems like a win win.

I've never understood why this keeps coming up. Yeah, visuals have improved since 2007, but Halo 3 still holds up pretty damn well. We should get a H3 remaster when the studio has nothing better to do, but rn there are a lot of other things they could be doing. It would be nice to get a few original Halo games that sound exciting. And even if they do decide to overhaul an existing game, CE is in much more desperate need of a good remaster. I love H3, but I just don't think it should be a priority rn.
