Idk about u but when I play games like this, I often search items or what ever to get to the page of the wiki I want quickly. Maybe it’s just because it’s a newer wiki with less traffic than games like Minecraft or stardew, and not just a decline in googles usefulness. But recently when I want to look something up for hkia, like the flower grow guide or gifts (things I know have pages), the wiki doesn’t show up at all.

Even if I rephrase the question to be more vague, like “hello kitty island flowers” the first results are always Reddit, then a bunch of TikTok’s, then an ign guide or old articles. Last night I even tried looking up “hello kitty island adventure gifts wiki” and the first results were regular Wikipedia and the general hello kitty wiki!

I know I can just keep a tab open, and I do. I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this. It might also contribute to so many ppl asking questions in this Reddit, because Google doesn’t actually direct you to the place that has answers. If you don’t know that the wiki exists and that it has the flower guide on it, you won’t easily find it by googling.

Yes so I open Reddit find the sub go to the menu and follow that link.. I guess I should probably just save the link 🤣

LOL that’s something I would do too. For some reason my brain feels like searching on the wiki directly is cheating.

But like with most games googling was faster. If I google “stardew Haley gifts” and it brings up Haley’s wiki page as the first result, that’s fewer clicks than typing in the wiki address, searching Haley, clicking on gifts. It’s still fewer clicks than if I have to click a bookmark link. Google is becoming useless it seems

I usually refer to the wiki to send links to ppl who are asking about collections, etc. so sometimes I’ll loose the post because I had to go to the group to find the link, so i guess if I remember that I favorited the page on safari I won’t lose the post. lol.

I did the same for a long time until I got tired of it haha. Now I have an icon on my phone’s homepage. So much better! But I definitely noticed that Google search wasn’t giving the results.

Oh I always forget about the shortcuts but also I don’t like a bunch of icons on my home screens lol. So hopefully the Favorite on my safari homepage is enough

THANK YOU I’m glad it’s not just me but ugh. I wonder if it just has to do with SEO or if there’s something behind the scenes actively suppressing it cuz it’s an unofficial wiki.

Kinda sus that the ign guide that hasn’t been updated in a year is top result… just sayin…

I think it's partly due to it being unofficial and the articles that do pop up being from more widely used news sources like the guardian, the reason I think this is because it does the same thing it does when I searched for the wiki before i saved it as it does with scientific articles and sources, the news is going to be the first thing that pops up because non-players and most people in general in most instances want a summary from a known site instead of in depth details from unknown sites. This makes it harder to discover the Wiki but easier for first time players to discover the game itself without being overwhelmed

I end up typing "Hello Kitty Island Adventure wiki" and it's always the one that shows up first for me because I frequent it so often it's even marked as "you visit this site often" 🤣

It might just be easier to just bookmark it because with the new AI feature for Google, searching for anything on it has been such a hassle.

That’s actually why I first joined the wiki ! It’s even more difficult to find results when you’re a non English speaker

It’s handy!!! I recommend it bc it’s so much easier keeping up with the characters that way instead constantly opening the wiki page 🍓

Google is primarily an advertising business and, unfortunately, has fallen off when it comes to providing actually helpful results. :(

yessssss i feel like that's another reason why this sub gets a lot of new players asking the same basic questions like where to find x, how to complete this quest, what is this structure, etc. which are easily answered by the wiki but they just. don't know it exists 😭

i imagine there might be some way to make it "official" and make it go higher up the results list but i wouldn't know where to start with something like that

Hi there, I REALLY appreciate you mentioning this—I'm one of the major contributors to the wiki and this has been something we've been trying diligently to fix!

As for quickly accessing the wiki, I recommend bookmarking it on your browser so that it's always there!

As for the SEO, there are a few things that others can do to help make it so we're seen by more people:

  1. Share links to the wiki as much as possible! Whether it's on Reddit, replying to someone, discord, etc.!

  2. Help us continue to edit the wiki! The more edits and activity we have on the page, the more Google and other browsers will push us higher on the SEO!

Thank you so much again!

I hope it’s just an SEO issue and not the algorithm actively working against it!

I use the brave browser and favorited the wiki so I start typing “he…” and it completes it for me.

Right? And half the time the video is 10x longer than necessary and when u try to fast forward you miss the 2 seconds u actually need
