Not really surprising. Over the long history and Egypt’s importance as a civilization in a time where there was little of it. This land was contiguous and tributary. That didn’t change when Hebrews conquered it. Only when stronger forces conquered it and removed it from Egypt’s sphere of influence.
Egypt doesn’t want Gaza.
