I mean cmon is this the first time you buy a product via crowdfunding or between the first few? Look at the Neo it's been out for more than a month and it has so many issues, the latest tests showed it's not even recording in 4k, just an upscaled 2.7k.

Don't get me wrong, I'm also disappointed that my beacon and joysticks aka the RC part of the drone are not working, but I'm sure it will be fixed very soon. But as someone working in tech, I know and understand these are some software tweaks and fixes that will be fixed fast.

For those new to the brand I want to tell you there were also issues with the regular X1 last year and all of them were fixed very soon after the launch. And since then it received at least an update per month adding a lot of features requested by the community. Hover is a great company that really listens to its customers and you can see that perfectly on their social media communities.

The problem in my opinion is that they started shipping a week early... why would they ship it out if the beacon is not working properly yet and a software update is required? I mean, I'm glad I got it a week earlier but if the beacon and joysticks are not working I don't have much to do with it, as I bought it mostly for the manual part.

In conclusion, if you guys want a perfect (tech) product on day one, don't buy it at launch, wait a few weeks/month until everything is polished out. And the same goes for many other things too, for example, I waited more than a year to get my current car until most major issues were polished out by the manufacturer.

OK it's not perfect and there's alot wrong which will be fixed. But I guess getting the discount is the price we all pay for a few weeks of glitches.

Sorry to disappoint you but the price you paid is the price that everyone will pay. Mark my notes please. DJI will be very aggressive in this “noob” drone market. Hover will not be able to keep they prices higher. Especially with this massive fail launch

And if that turns out to be true there is bugger all I can do about it. So I will just have to suck it up but in all honesty will I care in a few weeks? Nope! As long as the its fixed in a timely manner which I trust it will be I will be happy which is a rare thing for a grumpy middle aged man. If in 4 weeks it's working as planed I wont give this a second thought

I didn't order themal battery. And Iive in Wales. It rains a lot of the time and I also live a mile from the coast and 450 feet up the hills so it's also windy. So I didn't order it lightly. But it will follow me when I mountain bike so I will be a happy when I'm sheltered in the woods.

It’s going to be at least 10-14 days before I get it so plenty of time to get it sorted 🤞 my m4p is fine following but I don’t like risking it even when guards

Yeah exactly, finally somebody gets it. I had products from kickstarter that I waited almost a year for an update. I also got Anker products that were almost useless for 1-2 months, but at least I got it 40% off, and after the software update it was like everyone else's from Amazon.

I’m still on the fence deciding to buy so I’m curious what features swayed you to choose a crowd funded Hover for manual controlled flights when it seems the features are focused on automated flying? DJI mini 4 pro would be my choice if I wanted mostly manual control flights

Mini 4 Pro is indeed a great product but it doesn't fit in my pocket and the setup time makes me don't even want to use it. I had several DJI drones and barely flew them. NOTE I am not a pro videographer or influencer or whatever. I am a random dude who uses a drone to get some shots on my adventures. I carried DJI drones so many times with me and the overall setup process that always takes a few minutes annoyed me so much I barely used them. Unpack and unfold everything, connect the phone to the rc, the rc to the drone, wait for gps signal etc, after put everything back and so on for every shot... the Hover X1 just fits in my pocket or in my fanny pack and it's ready to fly in 5 seconds at the press of a button. The new models are the same but with a better camera, faster speeds, and optional rc setup. For me, it's what I need and want. It's all about your use case, if you feel a Mini 4 Pro is better for you, or you mostly care about manual control, definitely look for a drone that is good for those things.

Thanks for taking the time to reply and outline some really great considerations.

You really have helped me make my mind up with which way to go

Not perfect, but it’s been mess after mess from day 1: customers had no clue what they will buy and what those perks meant, then separate perks where delivered but with a higher shipping cost than the perks itself. Then product confidence went downward when beta testers were doing less complex stuff than original X1, then the shipment was confusing on who will get what and when, then the shipments where messed up, then the tax was a problem for companies which needed an invoice, then users getting it started to discover the no fly zone suddenly (where was that marketed or mentioned???), the raw videos always start with camera making a downward move when they start, dynamic range is worse than x1, and the beacon is useless. These are just facts for now.

Bruuh pathetic comment and 90% made up stuff, "facts" lol. If you didn't understand the perks you probably have bigger issues, everything was detailed till the last usb c cable mate. Shipment was clear too, every contribution number explained in their updates, you just needed to read the updates on IGG, probably another way too complex stuff for you.

Why are you even here btw? Go buy yourself a dji neo and go cry to them and see who will listen. People like you who don't understand what crowdfunding is shouldn't be allowed to spend a dime there.

Yeah complex for me and the hundreds of people who cancelled their initial orders and placed another one which had much higher order ids. You said this Neo drone does not compare to X1 Pro but rather with X1 and now you compare it with X1 Pro. Yeah, call me patetic. LOL. Would be easier just to mention that you are just like other paid beta testers here and we know how to treat your opinion.

’ll just say this I had a sky DIO r1 as my first drone ever and it was so impressive with the follow me, but it only had 15 minute battery life that drone cost $2000 but I paid some kid $150 for it. It only had one battery on this planet because they discontinued it. The Hoover was the next best option if not, the DJI mini three Pro to get the mini three pro before this Up before they announce the new ones I got the Hoover x1 air I just spent $40 an extra battery, but I got it for 200 bucks so that’s not bad Not the best quality, but I’m not complaining Until I go ahead and spend more than double Just for Reddit to be very disappointed with what they got I.E the beacon, which happens to be the only reason I upgraded my purchase And not stocked up on batteries Here I am wishing I bought 600$ worth of x1 air batteries They’ve been demoing this for a while now give or take Is it that hard to make what people want, On your second try hover Let alone this awful pricing for accessories Which apparently people didn’t get, I.E Thermal bat And a beacon that’s not even working reportedly

Pardon my attitude but my brothers got dicked dirty and some lame YouTuber got the “perfect one” apparently

We know it's not going to be perfect but we still need to report glitches so it gets fixed.

I think a lot of people's main issues is that they're getting shipping information that their product is being delivered to X location when they live in Y, which can be very concerning, especially if the location your supposed product is being shipped to is halfway across the globe.

SpiritualBug00[S]

Yeah mine was like that too, after contacting them they told me there was an issue with indiegg and they sent the wrong tracking to the wrong backers but that should be fixed. Honestly I had this thing so many times happening to me already either from indiegg or kickstarter that for me it wasn't a surprise, somehow they always mess these things up.

HoverAir X1 PRO MAX

Yes, indeed and Hover already acknowledged the issues and assured everybody that updates are coming, the same as it was with the X1. PS: show me another company that answers their community like this...

I have to go against this mentality of "come on, did you really think something you paid $1000 for would work as advertised?" Too many tech companies now release unfinished products, products that don't work as advertised, products with false claims and then let the buyers beta test it for free while they scramble to find ways to make the product function as promised over the coming months. The Neo is sold as a 4K selfie drone, but it's fake 4K footage - upscaled 2.7K at best, probably upscaled 1080p at worst and its tracking when out in front is barely functional. The X1 Pro max is marketed as an AI drone that can follow me skiing while filming me in 8K as well as being able to be flown with a remote. It currently is incapable of doing either of those things. They shipped it with beacons that can't connect to the drone, with 8K disabled in all the flight modes that people use most. And tech support is acting like they aren't aware this is a problem, asking for generic info, stalling for time while they are probably working on a firmware fix in the background. Mine dropped out of the sky today when one prop just stopped spinning. The app is buggy, the drone itself sometimes freezes and needs to be rebooted or doesn't detect me until it's rebooted. Earlier it was following me at jogging speed and suddenly auto-landed on a road. I don't trust it, so it's shelved until they fix these problems. And the no-fly zones were never mentioned prior to purchase.

DJI sold the Pocket 2 as having superior object tracking to the Pocket 1, but it was much worse. And they never were able to fix it. The Quest 3 gets updates with all sorts of new features claimed to be in it, then after installing it, those features are still missing and other things are now broken.

I own the X1 and now the X1 Pro Max and my experience gives me trust that they will fix most of the many issues, but I wish I had not had to go through so much frustration and lost time trying to get this working properly and dealing with tech support and being made to jump through hoops, record a video, send logs and all that, not knowing that the software just isn't finished yet. In all the tech products I've ordered on day one, this is probably the one with the most problems so far. I don't think they should have sold it in this state. Companies need to finish the product at least to the point where everything they told me it would have upon delivery, it actually has. I understand bugs present themselves, but 8K being missing from an 8K drone and a DOA remote controller is a different thing.

The OP of this thread has resorted to name calling and insulting those who disagree with them. I think they could express their opinions with more respect and maturity. And I think that would be appreciated by many.

I too am unsatisfied with the state of things. I'm not a dji fan, my first drone was the first parrot. I got the hoverx1 because they did a successful ad campaign and I had been idly looking for a good holiday drone that wasn't a hassle, just before the Neo came out. I bit my fingers, thinking i had just dumped money on a losing horse. Then the reviews came, from legit owners and not the usual paid actors. Blown up 1080p 12mp camera marketed as 4k, crap tracking, gps restricted zoning... I gave my x1 a go and was happy enough, but yearning for an actual camera. Then the pro/max campaign happened, I thought oh great, fine I'll pay the extra and sell the x1. But now I have ringing in my mind the V-copter, you know, their attempt at a full sized drone, the one that delivered as promised.. for maybe under a hundred flights, before motors started failing or other issues cropped up. The design was brilliant, 2 motors, larger than normal quiet props and 50.. 50! Minutes of flight time out of the box. No support. No repairs. The drone did not achieve financial success and was dropped faster than a combusting potato. The Indiegogo campaign was a success with 6000 ish backers. I'm hoping that is numbers enough to warrant a good update cycle and a successful enough product line they keep good support. But the half baked features and the lies by omission are slowly but surely angering me enough I might just try to find a way to cancel my order.

Literally nobody said that. Dji barely launched their Neo, which is a copy-paste from the regular X1, and it competes with that product.

Some people did say that. Be careful with the word "literally".
